Mr Bean - The Animated Series - Vol. 1 DVD
Review of Mr Bean - The Animated Series Vol.1 (DVD) by  mints4merlin

Advantages: distracts the children
Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.

...and has ruined the image of Mr Bean for me. At first I was curious and quite excited - I had hoped the comedy would be on the same lines as the original but I was wrong. The soundtrack is mostly orchestral with symbols, drums and flutes to emphasise dramtic turn arounds and Beans thoughts. The vocals, as the televised original series is basically mumbles and whimpers with the odd 'ooooo' sound. Another thing that irritates me is the fact that they have tried to modernise him and have given him a girl friend, not that that ever get together, lord no, what would happen to teddy, where would he sleep!? Irma Gobb is more a romantic interst whom Bean tries to impress, but rarely suceeds. In this single DVD volume you get 8 episodes, each lasting about 15minutes in length and include; 'In The Wild', 'Missing Teddy', 'No Parking', 'Bean's Bounty... Read review

DNAngel - DVD Volume 1 - Dawn of Dark
Review of DNAngel - The Dawn Of Dark (Animated) (DVD) by  Mayoki

Advantages: Very crisp animation, great opening theme tune
Disadvantages: English voice acting,

...clear that her heart belongs to none other than?Dark. So poor Daisuke has to juggle a mother who tries to kill him by laying traps around the house, an unrequited love, stealing artwork, transforming into Dark every time he thinks too much about Risa, and avoiding making himself look suspicious in front of Satoshi. He has his hands full! The first DVD concerns Daisuke getting to grips with Dark, and with stealing these valuable pieces for his family. This is DVD 1 of 7 and contains episodes 1 - 4. Characters: Daisuke is adorable, and until you meet Dark you wonder how on earth he would carry out being a main character. His innocence perfectly balances Dark, so it does work, but you sometimes feel he is a bit weak. Dark is everything Daisuke is not; tall, strong and good with the ladies. Frequently seen wearing form... Read review

Meet The Sailor Man With The Spinach Can!!!
Review of Popeye (DVD) by  eve6kicksass

Advantages: Superb casting, faithful adaptition of comic, Altman's direction
Disadvantages: Some bad songs and dubbing, overlength, an octopus

...(who I strongly believe is anorexic) from the obese, bearded giant known as Bluto. Eventually, Popeye and Olive adopt a baby named Swee?Pea, who was sent to Popeye in the mail by an ?unknown mudder.? And what is Popeye?s secret weapon you might be asking? Why that would be Spinach, and every time he ate an entire can, he would get superhuman strength which he would use to be on Bluto like ugly on a Baldwin brother. Once he kicked Bluto?s ass and disposed of him, then Popeye and his sweetie Olive Oyl would end up happily ever after. I know I tend to add personal experience in my reviews, though it?s not much of a secret that I was a sailor myself for 8 years; did I each spinach, though? You bet your 5 quid can-opener I did!!! I watched the Popeye cartoons as a kid, and it was during that time that I managed to catch the movie... Read review
