Advantages: very entertaining film Disadvantages: not exactly true to the book
The Clouds stars David Suchet as Hercule Poirot, Philip Jackson as CI James Japp, Sarah Woodward as Jane Grey, Shaun Scott and Norman Gale, Cathryn Harrison as Lady Cicely Horbury, Guy Manning as the French archaeologist Jean Dupont, Roger Heathcott as Daniel Clancy as well as David Firth, Roger Heathcott, Eve Pearce, Gabrille Lloyd, Amanda Royle & Richard Ireson in supporting roles. My Opinion
I had read the book Death in the Clouds some time ago and vaguely remembered who had committed the murder and how (or maybe there are murders, I'm not telling you) but couldn't remember exactly why. Knowing who the killer was did not deter ...
Advantages: Good adaptation, some great characters Disadvantages: No Hastings
episode - but that is only because there are Poirot stories that I like even more. Compared to most crime fiction these days, it is certainly of much better quality. And some people will be disappointed to find that Hastings, Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon are not to be seen. This doesn't bother me though; as a fan of the books, I know that these characters don't appear in the books as often as they do in the TV series and, although I enjoy the interaction between the characters, it is a pleasant change to not have them around for once.

Advantages: Lesser known story Disadvantages: Too many characters
nothing worth commenting on. I appreciate that TV versions of books are often quite different from the original story, but in the case of AgathaChristie, whose stories are so well-known, it really annoys me when the stories are tinkered with.
Despite the fact that there were too many characters and that it wasn't one of Poirot's best cases, I still loved this; hence four stars.
I watched the film version of this film, but the DVD is available from Amazon from £2.65. ...

Compare Agatha Christie's Poirot - Collection 3 (DVD) to other similar Thriller & Mystery »
suitably chilling, well scripted, well executed, superb acting from everyone involved - as soon as I can, I intend to make this a part of my video collection
ending is slightly spoiled by the opening scene, also the ending is in a similar vein to Se7en i.e. heart wrenching, which some people might not like (*)
