Pocoyo for those of you not familiar with him is a small animated baby who along with his friends Loula, Elly, Pato and Sleepy Bird gets himself into all sorts of mischief. The type of things he gets up to give you a very good insight into what just might go through a young child’s mind during play.
I had to go and get this on DVD for my four year old son who just loves it when it is on city. This DVD is the entire first series which contains 13 episodes, each roughly 6 minutes long. The characters in the show very rarely speak, preferring to try to make themselves understood by noises and actions. The whole show is narrated by Stephen Fry who communicates with pocoyo and his friends as if he is there with them.
The characters are: Pato, a somewhat uptight duck who never really wants to get dragged into pocoyos mischief but somehow always does. Elly, an out of proportion pink elephant who loves to play and tries to help pocoyo out of trouble when he regularly gets himself into it but often makes thing worse and can have a very naughty streak herself. Loula, pocoyo`s pet puppy who he finds very amusing although loula would often rather just rest than keep pocoyo entertained. Sleepy Bird, the name says it all. She would much rather sleep than do anything else but somehow pocoyo always manages to get her up and laughing and joining in. Then there’s Pocoyo himself, as I have mentioned earlier he is a little boy barely older than a baby in fact who likes nothing better than to play and try out new things, some of which he shouldn’t be trying and are in fact very naughty.

This DVD is full of fun and laughs for kids, my son will watch it over and over again and laugh his little socks off at pocoyos antics, and he has also learned the pocoyo dance very well. There is a slight educational value to this DVD but it is mostly fun for your little ones. If you want something that will keep your little ones amused for a while and let you get on then pocoyo`s your man. Available for as little as £4.99 some places such as asda for one, this is a must for your kid’s collection.
Thanks for reading!

Advantages: Fun Characters, Simple Stories, Disadvantages: I can't even think of one
...I first came to see Pocoyo a few years ago I was taken with it straight away, it wasn't too busy or confusing, not too many things going on at one, it was encouraging to see something so educational being shown to children. It features a number of brightly coloured characters; Pocoyo, Pato, Elly, Loula and Sleepy Bird. The characters plus one or two props make each episode. Apart from that everything is based on a white background. It's a very happy ... ...like; "do you know what Pocoyo should do next?"
What I really like is the length and simplicity of each episode, each episode has one soul theme, for example the first in this series is about a butterfly, the word "butterfly" is repeated and reinforced throughout the programme, which lasts around 8 minutes. The simple story line is that a butterfly keeps landing on the set, Pocoyo is chasing it and doesn't understand that it will keep flying away ...

Advantages: Unusual with funny loveable characters Disadvantages: Some children may lose interest in its simplicity
This is an enchanting and adorable cartoon which has a very simplistic styling that is very appealing. It did make me smile not just because of the characters but also because of the narration. However. This may not be for all because of its simplicity. I enjoyed it and it almost reminded me of some of the old cartoons I used to watch as a child, so it almost gives a feel of nostalgia. It is very sweet and pleasant to watch. Definately loved by very ...
