I have to admit since starting to watch it, conversation has come to a grinding halt in our house due to the fact that I am glued to it. The set comes with 4 discs, each containing 3 x 45 minute long programs narrated by David Attenborough on different subjects about our planet, ranging from Ice worlds to Plains, to Deserts to Jungles, etc. At the end of each program is a 10 minute "Diary" showing how they made the program and what the camera crew had to endure to get the filming. This is very funny to watch and almost worth buying the dvd for on its own. Its amazing to think that the 45 minutes of footage you have just seen can take up to a year in extreme conditions filming. There are no very gory bits in it, so it's fine for young children to watch, and doesn't go into too much detail that it becomes boring. I recommend this box set to anyone that likes nature and documentaries.

xx-- My intro---xx
An epic collection of five discs.
The collection comprises of all of the PlanetEarth episodes shown on BBC1 as well as a bonus -PlanetEarth - the future. This bonus dvd accompanies the book of the same name and looks at saving species and asks the question do we face an extinction crisis. We also learn about how we can save certain species.
xx--Bonus content--xx
This bonus disk also looks at pollutiion, climate change and the growing human population -- all of which are putting pressure on to the natural wilderness.
It delves into issues such as why previously uninhabited areas are paramount for our survival, as well as the survival of some of the worlds best known animal life.
We also look at living together-the challenges facing the planet and living together in such remote areas in the 21st century ...

Advantages: educational, interesting & cheap to buy Disadvantages: feature length
did make me appreciate our planet, and help me realise how big and beautiful it really is. When watching it is a spectacular scene of both underwater and mountain high landscapes, and helping us understand what creatures and animals live where they do and how.
Who? Where? When? What? Why?
This documentary will astonish everyone who watches it and make you want to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world.
This documentary suits all ages and will educate young people to how the world works and why animals eat each other. However there is scenes of animal violence involved it isnt anything off-putting. Included is the diarys of the camera team on set and a behind the scenes look at the making of PLANETEARTH.
I would recommend anyone who doesnt have this to buy it, it is a must have for all DVD collectors, animal ...
WOW. This is genuinely the best thing i have ever bought. Theres hours of fantastic footage of some places and animals that almost all of us will never experience up close. This ground-breaking documentary takes the audience to places that they didnt even know existed, showing the most beautiful caves, most remote deserts and showing the weirdest yet amazing creatures on the planet.
The DVD is packed full of extra features including a special extra DVD talking about the future of planetearth. Also at the end of each episode is about 10 or so minutes about the making of that episode showing what the camera crews had to endure to take these fantastic breath-taking images for us, however this isnt just for the DVD as the original episodes has this aswell. ...
