Pirates of the Caribbean : At worlds end is (hopefully) the final installment of this series, although based on the money its made don't be surprised if another does turn up. Firstly i would suggest watching the previous one before going to watch this, because they continue on from each other, and if you don't you'll end up spending the first 20 minutes trying to remember what had happened in the first. Some of the key points to remember from the previous episode (dead mans chest) are that at the end Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) went down with his ship and is now spending the rest of eternity in Davey Jones' locker (he's the weird guy with the tenticles on his face), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) believes that his love Elizabeth Swann (kiera knightley) is in love with jack after seeing them kiss. While all this is happening the british are on a mission to rid the world of all pirates. With this information you should be able to get to grips with the film alright.

As for At worlds End? The last 60 -90 minutes provide all the adventure, excitement and action you are looking for in this film, but thats not a great statement for a film nearly 3 hours long. It takes a while to get going and to understand what is going on, the fact that its a story in 2 parts does create a bit of confusion for a while (especially if like me you haven't seen dead mans chest in almost a year).

The first part of this film concentrates on rescuing captain Jack Sparrow from Davey Jones' locker where both he and the black pearl are stranded in a desert, his only companions being himself (lots of himself), this provides some comedy, who doesn't want to spend 15 minutes watching 20 or so cap'n jack's mincing around a ship? but overall i was more bemused than amused. Eventually of course he is rescued by Will, Elizabeth, and Barbosa who start the film in the orient looking for help from another pirate, Captain Sao Feng, they need him and jack so that they can convene the meeting of the 9 pirate lords.

Throughout the film there is a constant double crossing of........ well pretty much everyone, to the extent that we don't really know who is on whos side. Once we finally get through all the double crossing, arguing and small fight scenes we finally get towards the concluding part of the film where this film finally gets going and you can just sit back and enjoy.

The film finally reaches the crux point when the 9 pirate lords, consisting of Jack, Barbosa, and a bunch of others including Elizabeth Swann, who ends up captain of Sao Fengs ship, meet up at dead mans cove. However the English, with davey Jones in toe have been tipped off as to where they are and are ready for battle. This leads to the final big battle between the Black pearl and the flying dutchman (captained by Davey jones). One hell of a battle insues, this is the best part of the film, its exciting and with fantastic fight sequences.

I wont give away the ending as i'm aware that a lot of you out there wont have seen it yet. But what i can tell you is that this is well worth watching. its an entertaining family film and the last hour makes up for a slightly confusing and at times odd first hour or so. This is an improvement to the second film which i was slightly disappointed by and although its never going to win an oscar you do in the end get what you expect from a Pirate film and that is excitement, adventure and laughs.
