An IT guru who is an up and coming comedy scriptwriter (In my opinion) who has had a few things performed in London at a comedy venue.

My buckle is well and truly swashed and my timbers are shivering more than a naked man in Reykjavik.
In short this is a cinematic experience not to be missed.
A film based on the ride of the same name at disneyland (although whenever I've been there it's been closed so can't say whether or not it is a faithful representation). potentially could have been awful but johnny Depp and a fantastic script make this THE movie of the summer.
I won't beat around the bush, this film is made by Depps fantastic Captain jack Sparrow. he gets the best lines and delivers them with such wit and timing to make it an oscar worthy performance (although I am pretty sure he won't get a look in when the time comes).
there are three stories intertwined fantastically in the film.
The first is a good old fashioned hollywood love story between Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley - of bend it Like beckham fame), will Turner (Orlando - legolas - bloom) and the commodore (Jack Davenport I think). they are all good guys, although you are rooting for the obvious love match.
The second is Captain Jack sparrow and his quest to get his ship, the black pearl, back.
The final story is the quest for Captain Barbossa and his crew of the damned to gain freedom from their eternal punishment.
Much as it will dissapoint the ladies I found orlando Bloom the biggest let down in the movie. His sword skills are fantastic (as are those of the rest of the cast). However I felt that a lot of his delivery was wooden, the on screen chemistry with Knightley was there but not always believable.
The film fairly fizzes by from scene to scene, with Depp comprehensivelt stealing every single one he appears in. The scenes on the desert island between him and Knightley are a joy to behold.
The film is rated 12a and due to the nature of some of the scenes I reckon some younger kids would find it a little scary (although there is no really obvious gore).
My biggest bug bear is that the CGI special effects do not look as great as they could have but don't let it put you off. They are still good, but not fantastic.
To sum up. A Great film, a fantastic script and an actor at the height of his powers injohnny Depp. Watch this film, then wait for it to come out on DVD/Video then rent it and buy it and watch it again and again.

Of course it's Jack Davenport! Sorry, but I'm on a mission to make everyone love him as much as I do. Pirates is a cracking film. Alex :)

I'm a really pedantic grammar nut, so you can ignore this comment, but look out for those capital letters for people's names and movie titles! Good op!
