Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest
This is a Walt Disney film and is the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl and is directed by Gore Verbinski. Both films are about old day pirates sailing the seas around the Caribbean, in waters full of weird and exciting things.
Cast
There is an awesome cast mainly those who appeared in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, most of them are famous actors who have appeared in other very successful films making this a film everyone will want to see, especially due to the casts good reputation in previous films, the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest include…
Johnny Depp an actor who has appeared in many famous films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, within this film he plays Captain Jack Sparrow, a witty clever pirate, he lives to be free with his crazy personality he has lots of friends all though no one should ever trust anyone in the pirate world as Captain Jack often uses people to his own advantage especially as he is trying to get hold of the heart of Davy Jones.
Orlando Bloom another famous actor who has appeared is films such as all of the popular Lord of The Rings films, within
this film he plays Will Turner the son of a well know pirate Boot-Strap Bill, who Will Turner is turning to piracy to search for, in the film he finds his father who is within the slavery crew of Davy Jones. He promises to free his father some how so also is in search of the heart of Davy Jones.
Keira Knightley who has been seen before in films such as Pride & Prejudice and Bend It like Beckham, in this film she plays Elizabeth Swann who after helping free Jack Sparrow in the first film is arrested along with her father, she awaits her fiancé Will Turner to come and rescue her and her father from facing a death sentence.
Bill Nighy has been seen in films including Hot Fuzz, in the film he plays Davy Jones the captain of a ship called the Flying Dutchman he keeps his heart in a chest that a lot of people want to steal from him. He keeps a ship of slaves tormenting the seas around the Caribbean. He also has an immense hatred for Captain Jack Sparrow.
Above are the main characters in this film who I feel deserve a write up to tell you more about them as they are what makes this film, there are also other great actors within this film these include..
Jack Davenport, who plays Norrington an enemy of Captain Jack Sparrow who becomes Commodore James Norrington within this film.
Jonathan Pryce, who plays Governor Weatherby Swann, the father of Elizabeth. Stellan Skarsgard, who plays Boot-Strap Bill who is father to Will Turner, within this film he is under the order of Davy Jones
Tom Hollander plays Lord Cutler Becket who is another enemy of Jack Sparrow.
Story Line
This film starts with Elizabeth Swann, her father and Will Turner being arrested and sentenced to death, but Will is sent out to find Jack Sparrow in return for all of their lives spared. So he goes looking for him and finds him on an island pretending to be a god where Jack asks Will to save him and his crew who have been stuck on the island, when they eventually get of the island Jack uses Will to try and get the heart of Davy Jones to try and save Jack from Davy Jones's locker as he owes debt to Davy Jones. Jack is searching for a key to the chest that contains Davy Jones's heart. Lord Beckett wants the compass that Jack Sparrow possesses and hopes for Will Turner to return with it in exchange for his and the other prisoners lives spared. Beckett wants the world of pirates to be destroyed for ever and for all pirates to be sentenced to death.

Acting, Effects and Quality
The acting is brilliant as you would expect from a cast of such famous and popular actors, they help make the film funny adding brilliant sense of humour and realism. No parts of the film come across as fake, the effects are also brilliant making it seem like you are actually out at sea with them. The sound quality is brilliant also all together making the film outstanding, action packed exciting to watch just what you expect from a Walt Disney production. It also has good quality sound tracks that fit in with the moment of the film they are played also adding to the suspension of some parts, and fitting in with action filled moments.
A bit more about the film
This film was released in July 2006 and was very popular from the minute it came out in the cinemas as the first film was so good, this film unlike other sequels was far from a disappointment being just as good as the first one. It is also an Oscar awarded film as well as having another 29 award wins and 34 nominations. It was then released on DVD during November 2006 which was also a huge popular success, this DVD included 2 disks one including special features.
This film is rated a 12A because of sequences of violence including what could be seen as frightening images.
The film has a 150 minute run time which could be seen as a bit long for younger viewers but I did not think it was to long. The DVD comes with languages including, English, Turkish and Greek and has subtitles in various other languages.
DVD Special Features
Deleted scenes - additional release material Audio Commentary - Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio The Making of Dead Man's Chest Bloopers of the Caribbean
Price & Availability
This film is quite hard to get hold of in general shops on DVD as it is now nearly 2 years old, it is however available online from sites that sell DVDs you can usually buy DVDs from places like this from anything between £5-£10 for older films. When it first came out I paid £15 for this film now 2 years later it should be a lot cheaper to purchase even if you do manage to find it in shops. Rental companies might be selling ex rental copies of cheap I have found this an excellent place to buy older films.
My opinion
I love this film I bought it as I loved the first one and was more than impressed with the sequel, I would definitely recommend it to other people it is a brilliant quality film and I can't see many people being disappointed with it. There is now also another third sequel available to this film and you can buy all three as a box set. So if you have seen the first one and enjoyed it definitely give this one a watch.
Definitely a 5 star excellent rating in my opinion.
