Pirates of the Caribbean at World end is the third movie in the Pirates trilogy. It follows the crew of the Black Pearl (the Pirate ship) rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker and then preparing to fight the East Indian Trading Company who are intent on extinguishing piracy. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the plot/movie for you as I believe you should see it for yourself so I will just now review the rest of the DVD and what I thought of the film/films.
At the box office it was actually the most successful film of 2007 and is the second most successful film in the series. I think even if action and adventure films aren't for you (they aren't my most favourite) this would still be a film you like as it is very funny in places, the sets are brilliant and the action really is very well choreographed. My one complaint with it is that it is rather long in places so stick it on, pause it from time to time and go make another cup of tea.
The Pirates movies are released by Disney and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The films are actually based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. If you have ever been to the park you will most certainly been on the ride and have seen all the similarities. In fact on my last visit to Disneyland in January they had put four Jack Sparrow characters throughout the ride for patrons to spot, a very nice touch.
The cast is very weird and wonderful. The three main characters are as follows:
Jack Sparrow - played by Johnny Depp - It is worth seeing the films just for him. He says that he modelled the character on Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones and you can see the similarity. He is just brilliant and crazy and very very funny.
Will Turner - Orlando Bloom - the eye candy of the movie. I'm not a big Orlando fan but he does look very cute in this film and the love story between him and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightly) is lovely to watch.
Elizabeth Swann - Keira Knightly - Apparently she did a lot of the sword fighting scenes in this film herself which is quite outstanding as they are very good. She looks great in this movie and has some wonderful costumes.
The DVD is worth getting even if you just buy it for the extra features. It contains two discs with hours of special features and extra footage. These include, to name but a few:
Bloopers - very funny and sometimes even better than the film itself Deleted Scenes A design feature on how the Pirates Wold was created On set with Johnny Depp and Keith Richards
The DVD has a 12 rating due to moderate horror and action adventure violence and runs for approximately 161 minutes.
Definitely one to add to your collection.

Advantages: It proves you can't polish a turd. Disadvantages: Dreadful writing, self-indulgent direction and performances. An ignominious end to a promising franchise.
