traditional, efficient action score that, due to the film's setting, occasionally incorporates light Asian touches. The popularity of Hans "Long John" Zimmer (all the credits in the CD's liner notes include pirate-themed nicknames, like the roll call in a Simpsons Halloween episode) isn't in doubt-- he sure is one in-demand composer -- but afficionados are divided about his artistic worth, and this score isn't about to reconcile them. Some think that Zimmer relies too much on his stable of composers and sticks to tried-and-true recipes; others admire his capacity to weave themes in and out of cues, creating a whole made of subtly interrelated parts. At World's End feeds both camps: seven of his collaborators are credited with writing "additional music," and the album feels by-the-numbers at times; but those inclined to listen very closely will be rewarded by the way Zimmer sneaks in bits of two main melodies (especially variations on the first track, a pirate theme titled "Hoist the Colours" and cowritten by director Gore Verbinski) throughout. The use of electronics is so light as to be almost undetectable, which will please fans of a more organic orchestral sound. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Well after the joy of watching the first two Pirates movies I certainly had to watch the third so I could complete the series. The third is just as good as the first two in my opinion.
We start the film with Captain Jack being trapped in Davey Jones Locker but a crew of friends set out to free him, the team is lead by Barbossa who has been brought back from the dead by Calypso. Will Turner is also along on this trip as he has his own agenda, he wishes to take hold of the Black Pearl so he can free his father from Davey Jones Locker also and his life of punishment.
The crew finally meet up with Jack and after a lot of problems they are finally free from the Locker but they have another mission which must be completed. The last nine Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court must meet and make one last stand to preserve the freedom of the pirates.
The British forces in port Royal are hanging all pirates and anyone who is found to be helping them. Will is enlisted by they to help capture Jack and led them to the Brethren court so the leader of the forces can take control of the court and rid the seas of these pirates.
Elizabeth is again along on this mission but there is tension between her and Will as Will saw her kissing Jack at the end of the last film so he thinks she now loves Jack and not him. The couple find out that they have both betrayed each other by being deceitful about their missions.
Calypso is more of a main character in this film as she wishes the Brethren Court to free her from her human form so she can again be a free spirit and be free. Little do they know her connection with Davey Jones.
Will is sticking to his mission and he leaves the British Forces a trail so they can follow the Black Pearl to the hiding place of the Brethren Court but before long Captain Jack has found out his intentions and Will is thrown over board.
Will Captain Jack be able to get the nine Pirate Lords together and will they be free to sail the sea and can Will finally free his father and complete his mission?
This film does have to be watched very closely as there are deals being made between the pirates left right and centre and at times I was finding myself with no idea who was helping who or who was being deceitful. I did find that I soon worked it all out and in the end it all made sense!
The story in this film was again very good and quite believable. The characters were all amazing in their roles and made their characters very believable. They all worked very well together on screen and the return of some of the old characters from the previous films gave the whole story more depth.
Johnny Depp was again excellent in his role and he added an excellent amount of humour which is what was needed in the film. He just seems to have an ability to make me laugh by just a facial expression.
The effects in the film were very good. They all looked believable and fitted into the film very well. At no point could you tell that you were definitely watching a special effect as they were blended in so well.
The music in the film was very appropriate and it all fitted into the film very well. I give credit to Hans Zimmer as his music did give the film the added emotions which were needed at the right points of the film.
The DVD which I have is packed full of bonus material which includes:-
Keith and the Captain - On set with Johnny Depp and the Rock Legend Bloopers of the Caribbean Deleted Scenes with Optional commentary by Director The Tale of Many Jacks Anatomy of a Scene - The Maelstrom Masters of Design - Creating the Pirates World The World of Chow Yun-Fat Inside the Brethren Court The Pirates Maestro - The music of Hans Zimmer Hoist the Colours - The Story Behind the Song
I did watch the bloopers but I did not watch the additional extras as I do not want to see how the film and characters were made as it will make the film loose some of the magic. Hubby did watch them when I had gone to bed and he did say that they were all very interesting and if you like a behinds the scene look then they are definitely ones to watch as he learned so much from them and just how much work goes into creating the effects and characters.
The film was written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Directed by Gore Verbinski. The running time of the film is 161 minutes which makes this the longest out of all three but I did not find I was getting bored at any point in the film as there is so much going on.
The film has a 12 certificate which I think is very appropriate as there are scenes of moderate horror and action adventure violence.
I paid just under £5 for my DVD from Amazon so shop around for a great bargain.
This film is a must to watch as it completes the whole series of excellently although I would have liked a different ending for a certain member of the crew! I highly recommend this film to all who have watched the others and all fans of fun action films with great actors.

Review of Pirates Of The Caribbean - At World's End (DVD)
Advantages: To be completely honest, nothing. Disadvantages: Not the same 'Pirates' we knew and loved
...a blockbuster the size of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End comes along it is hard to find words that can do the film justice, but when that blockbuster disappoints it is even harder to pick yourself up and put something together that quite frankly doesn't ruin the fantasies of many of the readers. I never paid the cinema fare to see this completition of a trlogy, I was put off by the rumours of it lasting three hours and I don't have enough ... ...the ones that hate the pirates anyway, are leading an attack against their enemies and with Davy Jones in their pocket as they have hold of his heart it means they are slowly getting through the entire pirate population. That leads Elizabeth, who can suddenly now fight like a pirate, and Barbossa to Singapore where we see the first of many different types of pirate groups we shall see in the movie. A typically out of control and over the top scene ...

Pirates of the Caribbean at World end is the third movie in the Pirates trilogy. It follows the crew of the Black Pearl (the Pirate ship) rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker and then preparing to fight the East Indian Trading Company who are intent on extinguishing piracy. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the plot/movie for you as I believe you should see it for yourself so I will just now review the rest of the DVD and what I thought ... ...of tea. The Pirates movies are released by Disney and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The films are actually based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. If you have ever been to the park you will most certainly been on the ride and have seen all the similarities. In fact on my last visit to Disneyland in January they had put four Jack Sparrow characters throughout the ride for patrons to spot, a very nice touch.
The cast is very weird ...

Advantages: God film lots to make fans get involved Disadvantages: more deleted scenes and actor interviews
As a fan of the trilogy of Pirates, the third installation of the movie exicted me, to see my favourite characters and actors back for another adventure. I did miss the film at the cinema, but asked for the DVD for Christmas and only watched it two weeks ago. The characters were brilliantly acted to show ... ...made the film extra special to me. the end battle was long but got the point across and the marriage of will and Elizabeth - (I'm a will & Liz shipper :) ) made me smile, but his death made me cry my eyes out so much but the return of Captain Turner made one smile and happy. The DVD 2 disc edition comes with bloopers on disc one that is really funny , there could have been more deleted scenes on second disc, and more features on each character has ...

Advantages: It proves you can't polish a turd. Disadvantages: Dreadful writing, self-indulgent direction and performances. An ignominious end to a promising franchise.
the tolling chimes and snare drum that open proceedings. The majority of fights and battle are accompanied by big, brassy arrangements that add a certain frisson of excitement but soon feel predictable. This is also true of the themes associated with Chinese pirate Sao Feng and his ship, which rely on clichéd Asian strings and flutes. There are lots of references to the original "Pirates" theme, whether full-blown for Jack's ship or as an accordion-based shanty that grows into it. But there are some concessions to modernity in Zimmer's reed flute and bowed string arrangements that feature electronic twiddles, some Hammond organ motifs that feel like they've been borrowed from "The Avengers" and the electric guitar additions to orchestral themes. It's a consistent but unoriginal body of work.

Advantages: Brilliant graphics Disadvantages: Lacks a sparkle that the other films had
After being quietly impressed by the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films I was eager to see the third film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. I must admit however that although I enjoyed this film it simply wasn't as good as its predecessors and lacked a certain sparkle that the others had prominently displayed.
The film itself was released in 2007 was a 12 certificate. It has the same all-star cast as the previous films but this time delves deeper into their pirate lives. As the end of the previous film showed Captain Jack Sparrow has been lost to Davy Jones' locker and Captain Barbossa has been raised from the dead by Tia Delma to aid William Turner and Elizabeth Swan in their quest to get him back. Together they travel to Singapore to get a crew and ship in order to get Jack back from the land of the dead.

Advantages: Great Special Effects Disadvantages: I had to write a review to get them all in
The long awaited, and final instalment has finally arrived - Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End, I was really excited, as I had thoroughly enjoyed the first instalment, The Curse of The Black Pearl (2003), but was seriously let down by the second, Deadman's Chest (2006), I felt that Deadman's Chest acted as a filler, almost as a bit of a "trailer" to lead up to the grand finale that would be the third and final instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy/Franchise, whatever you want to call it?.
?.Disappointingly, I was wrong, At World's End has a poor story line, poor script, the only redeeming features of this film are the sets, locations & special features, I would even go as far to say that this is just a great big w*nk for the Director & Production crew, in my eyes it is just a showcase of what they can achieve by ...
