Al Simmons is a 'Spec Ops' assassin for a government agency. He feels it is time to leave but does one final job. Unfortunately his boss, Wynn (played by Martin Sheen) has other plans and kills him. Al travels to hell and makes a deal with the devil. He will lead the devils army, in return he gets to see his wife again. Al returns to earth, however, its 5 years later and his wife has made a new life for herself. Al himself has also changed, he's now a hellspawn. The film Piranha is a horror film that for me is actually a comedy.
The film starts off by two skinny dippers who break into an old abandoned military research facility where there is what they think to be a swimming pool to go skinny dipping in. They both get eaten by something under the water. Once they had went missing a Private Investigator was hired to find them. She goes to the research facility and drains the pool to find out what was lurking at the bottom. You guessed it, she finds a couple of skelentons of the couple.
The swimming pool was harbouring 'The piranha'. Which were to be revealed by the ramblings of an alcoholic who lives near by. Advantages: Great movie Disadvantages: you need a distinct taste in movies to like it
The movie was released in 1997. It has been critically acclaimed as "One of the greatest dark thrillers of our time". The story follows Todd McFarlane's comic book character "Spawn". He is murdered by the people he worked for and for the sins of his life as a mercenary he was sent to hell. In return for letting the dark hero, Spawn (Michael Jai White), see his wife and child, the devil makes an agreement with him to lead Hell's army to the gates of Heaven and burn them down. The story continues with Spawn's struggle between good and evil, which is demonstrated in the tagline of the movie "Born in Darkness. Sworn to Justice." The movie is filled with great special effects and leaves you wanting more. Rumors about a second Spawn movie are currently being passed around, will hopefully be seeing that in cinemas within the next couple ...
In this sequel to Joe Dante's PIRANHA, unsuspecting vacationers at tropical Club Elysium find they are the main course for a school of deadly piranha fish genetically engineered as weapons by the government. One of the scientists responsible for the carnage teams up with a diving instructor to destroy the killer piranha, which have been crossed with flying fish and can launch themselves out of the water to attack. PIRANHA 2 was James debut. He was discovered by a group of producers who witnessed his genius for directing maggots on a prosthetic dismembered arm using electrical shocks while he was working in special effects and art direction for low-budget science-fiction films. The producers were sufficiently impressed to offer him a job as director on PIRANHA 2, which was filmed on location in Jamaica.
