ProIts Disney

ConsA bit scary for younger kids

As anyone who reads my reviews will know I am a massive fan of Disney and am currently working my way through watching as many of the films as possible with my 2 year old son and 7 year old nephew. Pinocchio has always been one of my least favourite Disney films, but my nephew asked for it for...

ProFun, classic and everyone will enjoy it

ConsNone

Another great Disney film and another of the older classic ones! In fact this particular one is really one of the older ones as it is the 2nd ever Disney animated film. This is Pinocchio which I'm sure many of us will have seen at some point during either our own childhood or with children. The...

ProJiminy Cricket, clever animation, lovely score

ConsLack of good songs, too scary for young children

Pinocchio, the famous story of the adventures of a little wooden boy, was first released to American audiences in 1940. At a point where Europe was already embroiled in the Second World War and the USA’s own entry lay just around the corner, Walt Disney chose for his second film a fantastical...

ProIt's Pinocchio. Need we say more?

ConsNone!

Pinocchio. What can I say? A classic in its own right adored by children and adults equally. This is an absolute timeless Disney Animation that I could watch time and time again and never get sick of. I bought my own copy of this DVD for £17.99 from Music Zone. I've noticed it selling for up to...

Pinocchio is one of those great films that you can revisit again and again throughout your whole life. If anyone says that animation is only for children, show them this film - it is very dark in places and scared me quite a bit as a child! But now it is my very favourite of all the Disney...

“Classic Disney at its best”

ProTimeless in nearly every way

ConsThey just don't make 'em like this any more

Pinnochio, to me, is a timeless movie. I think that is some of the magic of the early Disney films - they could transport you into this amazing world that made you laugh and made you cry. The only thing bringing you crashing back down sometimes was how the quality of the movie had seemed to...

Manufacturer's product description

Roberto Benigni (LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL) brings Carlo Collodi's classic children's story to glorious life in this big budget live-action adaptation. Gepetto (Carlo Guiffre), a humble toy maker, fashions a marionette out of a log that has miraculously appeared on his doorstep. After wishing upon a star that his creation, Pinocchio (Benigni), would come to life, Gepetto's wish is granted by the beautiful Blue Fairy (Nicoletta Braschi). The only condition is that Pinocchio must prove his valor, and be completely honest at all times, in order to become a real boy. Unfortunately, this isn't easy for the enthusiastic puppet, who seems to find trouble everywhere he turns. After a long, tumultuous journey, in which Pinocchio is accosted by two corrupt thieves, turned into a donkey, and swallowed by a shark, Pinocchio is reunited with his father, setting up a final challenge that will prove once and for all if Pinocchio has the heart to become a real boy.<BR>Benigni's follow-up to the Oscar-winning LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is a crowd-pleasing fantasy film, featuring beautiful cinematography from Dante Spinotti (HEAT, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL). The American release boasts the voices of actors Breckin Meyer, Glenn Close, and John Cleese.
