Advantages:
Has an orchestral slash psychadelia mix which is unique to pink floyd
Disadvantages:
First track is Pink floyd's longest and is long winded, may drive people crazy if you sat them down an forced them to listen to the opening track for half an hour

This is the first full studio albumn made after the talented founder member Syd Barrett suffered his tragic mental brakedown.Straight after the sountrack albumn MORE this albumn is most unique and in a genre of it's own compared with other Floyd albumns. The albumn has a unique structure to it and has been engineered and produced beutifully in the studio. It comprises of a large orchestrial deep bass sounding opening track. The middle contains 3 solo songs from Roger waters,David gilmour and Rick Wright. The albumn closes with a large track split into three different segments of piano slash sound effects brilliance mainly down to Rick Wright.
The package is again incredibly generous generous. Not only does the official cd come with a very thick booklet ot also comes with a laminated strange recipe menu of a wedding feast in the sahara dessert which is strange and not related in any way to the albumn but is a rare treat for Floyd
fans. The booklet contains the typical set up,all lyrics are included with a fitting background array of pictures. The cover is a picture of a cow in a field, rather strange, a very good cover though.
This albumn can be found very expensive i should think so in any high street shop like hmv or virgin but like most floyd albumns can be bought brand new for about £7.I would stay away from ebay their are to many international unoffcial ersions out there and you will most likely be forced to re-sell it just to get your money back.
ATOM HEART MOTHER- The opening track is about 30 seconds longer than echoes on MEDDLE the later albumn making it Pink Floyds longest studio song.It is divided into 5 parts which are based supposedly around the experiences of a cow but is hard to believe.A vast rushing array of instruments and sound effects including piano, trumpet, trombone, french horn and of couse a backing strings orchestra of violins and chellos through certain patches on the track. This song i would take some getting used to and patience but is a very rare treat of easy soothing listening, i think Roger Waters has his best Bass guitar work ever here it's very deep and thumping and blends well with the orhestra. The weak points of this track are the lengh and unfortunately there is an area in the track which contains a very anoying sound effect like a windcreen wiper rubbing back and forth i usually fing i have to fast forward past this bit as it is so anoying. On a whole a very inviting bass sounding deep soothing blend of brilliance a very classical edge of Pink Floyd.
IF: Has a great guitar melody as backing and rather a poetic take to a floyd track this is a solo Waters track which is rather repetitive but has another soothing feel to it.
SUMMER 68: Ahhh my favourite track by Rick Wright.Has an excellent intro with rick flowing his piano like a stream blended in are his poetics then all of a sudden a gothic chorus enters with church organ and full strengh. This track is a love song and the chrorus has an echoing annoyed repeated line to a women the person loves 'Tell me how do you feel' then a nice bah di bah bah kind of tune comes in and then the song goes back to intro. An excellent track some of Floyds classics are from Keyboarder and sound effects expert Rick wright.
FAT OL SUN: Hrmm not sure about this one Gilmour going solo may sound like yet another disaster but he does'nt try to show off with long winded guitar solo's here it's just him trying to be poetic with a bass sound background flowing genly with his lyrics which are sung to perfection. My least favourite track and took me a while to like.Ithink the best part of the track is right at the end when an excellent Gilmour guitar solo comes in with the lyrics gently flowing away.
ALAN'S PSYCHADELIC BREAKFAST: Mainly a Rick wright song this split into three different parts of piano brilliance, the piano work here is simply perfection some of the best melody's i have ever heard, does contain some hilarious background sound effects or breakfast preperations which always make me feel hungry.
The albumn ends on the third part of the last track with Rick's river like flowing piano sounds blening in nicely with a little acoustic guitar and sound effects.
Overall an excellent underated albumn, one of my favourites, has a generous package with large booklet and the music is top notch very deeply calming and soothing no hard anoying cry's and screams no hard sounding loud anoying Gilmour guitar solos just a very beutiful calm work of art.
