Pingu is a kids television programme about a penguin and it is shown on CBBC and Cbeebies quite a bit. Pingu was thought up in 1984 by Otmar Gutmann and Harold Muecke, he is made of plasticine and hit the screens when he was barely one year old. In 1986 he starred in a pilot movie for Swiss television. He is now on 140 television channels worldwide. He can go on any channel in any language because he speaks in Penguinese and only word you can undertand is nug nug. Pingu lives in the Antarctic in a whale shaped igloo. He loves fishing, sledging and snowboarding and rides around on blue push along scooter and hates fish porridge.

Advantages: Keeps the children amused, helps teach morals. Educational. Disadvantages: None
Pingu is a small penguin that lives on the Icecap. He lives in an igloo with his mum, his postman dad and baby sister Pinga. His grandpa lives in an igloo nearby. Pingu loves to play; he loves to ski, sledge, play fish tennis and most of all play in the snow. He loves to learn about the world around him both alone and with his friends Seal, Pongi, Pingo and Pingg.
Pingu has been around for some time but I think the more recent episodes are much better. The story appeal highly to children due to the scrapes that Pingu and his friends get into but also for the added addition of the occasional burp and other bodily noises either in the bath or whilst on the toilet. However what children probably don't realise is that most of the stories have a hidden moral in them, and this DVD is no exception.
Pingu does not speak English, however ...
Advantages: Continuous Random play feature... Disadvantages: Slightly addictive!
This DVD is about a cheeky charming young penguin who spends his time playing with his friends and family. He is always landing himself in silly situations and funny comical adventures whilst living in his snowy winter wonderland.
My fiance bought this DVD for our little girl as something to keep him and our daughter entertained while I worked weekends (though I think it may have been more for his benefit!). The lack of language leaves this DVD open to all ages and languages!
While this DVD only has 24 episodes of the cheeky penguin and his fun filled adventures, it has an amazing "Continuous Random Play" feature which allows the dvd to play for hours on end which is a god send in the car!
The price of this DVD varies from about £3.99 upwards to about £8.99 but i'll tell you, it's worth every single penny!! ...
