I've literally just finished the end of this DVD and thought Id write the review whilst it was still fresh in my mind!
Pineapple Studios Everybody Dance does what it says on the tin "Learn To Dance, Get fit, & have fun!" - but only just.
The choreographer is really good, and her credibility is backed up by the fact that she has worked with stars like the Sugababes, Rihanna and Mary J Blige. You definitely warm to her, shes not patronising, and you do feel part of the dance class whilst she is teaching you the moves!
There are three main routines that she teaches you, each with a chorus and verse - "Maneater" by Nelly Furtado, "SOS" By Rhianna, "Aint No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera and "Beep" by The Pussycat Dolls. The DVD also includes other extras like meeting the dance troupe, make up tips etc as well as a full routine at the end of each taught section perfomed by the dance troupe.
Positive Points: It is fun, funky and sassy and the choreography once put together is pretty good for beginners. Paulette goes through each section slowly and explains the moves well, and of course there is always the option to pause/rewind anyway. The choice of music is good, each section isnt dragged on and you do feel a sense of achievement when you get each section right (and in time to the music!)
Negative Points: If you are thinking of buying this DVD to get fit, or are used to this type of dancing/have done a few classes etc in the past and are after something more complicated and energetic, then it probably isnt the best choice. I used to dance competitively across the country in similar styles to this one, and the routines are fairly basic, and I dont think it really makes you sweat! The time it takes to get to run through each section to music also slows down any chance you had of getting a good work out, which I guess is the nature of the beast when you are learning to dance! Once they have gone through the routine to music once at the end, its all over and on to the next routine step by step.
Overall Id say that this is a perfect DVD for beginners who are too shy to go to a class. Pineapple has an excellent reputation and the choreography is easy to master. However, If you are more of an accomplished dancer and are looking just to get fit then this probably isnt the right dance dvd for you.
