PhilCollinsPhilCollins born Phillip David Charles Collins in London in 1951 is a singer-songwriter, drummer, keyboardist and actor. He is best known as drummer and vocalist for English progresive rock group Genesis for whom he became the lead singer in 1975. His concurrent solo career has brought him worldwide commercial success and made him the Grammy and Academy-Award winning artist he is today.

(1982), No Jacket Required (1985), ?But Seriously (1989), Both Sides (1993), Dance Into the Light (1996), Tarzan Soundtrack (1999), Testify (2002) and The Brother Bear Original Soundtrack (2003). Some of you who?ve read a few of my previous albums may have picked up on the fact that I like PhilCollins. Well, I?ll let you into in a widely known secret that isn?t really a secret anyway ? he?s my favourite solo artist! I bet you never expected that! ?..Ok, you saw it coming a mile off. Back to the review. ;-D
NB ? Genesis is a favourite band of mine too. PhilCollins was in Genesis, don?t you know! :-D
But Seriously is a great album. It was the album that introduced me to the music of PhilCollins, although this album is quite a bit different to his previous works, following a more upbeat theme. He?s turned to a more live sound now, going from a jazz-rock sound to something more pop-like or even alternative. Every track is worth a listen in its own way.

Well when I say rocks i mean he ambles gently along. This is PhilCollins performing songs as they were meant to be Live and stripped of studio polish. On this album Phil gets back to his roots and performs all of his hits in his own soulful fashion. Although his poppy hits such as "Something happened on the way to heaven" and "Can't hurry love" are obviously classics and deserve to be here it is on lesser known tracks like "Take me Home" and "In the Air Tonight" were his musical talent shine through. Slagged off by everybody the majority of whom own at least one album the man is a genius and illustrates this track after track. You can feel the atmosphere of an obviously enraptured crowd and almost give the man an ovation yourself when the CD finishes.I must have even for those with other greatest hits albums.
