You'll want to Return To Never Land again and again.
Land. This sequel to the 1953 classicPeter Panhas a reassuringly old-fashioned feel, with computer-generated images and more-traditional artwork cleverly blended to recall the original. Wendy, now married with children, is living in a London ravaged by the blitz. Every night she enchants her small son with tales of pirates and Pan to distract him from the bombings but her serious young daughter Jane finds the stories of magic and fairies unconvincing in the face of a war-torn reality. After a fairly slow beginning establishing the bleak backdrop and the various characters--Jane's smug conscientiousness grates at times--the scene is set for the adventure to begin; and once the nefarious Hook and crew loom into sight, things really take off--literally.In Never Land nothing much has changed: the dastardly Captain Hook, now tormented by a clicking octopus rather than a ticking crocodile, just wants to be hated; his crew remain bloodthirsty but bumbling; and feisty fairy Tinker Bell shimmers around in a jealous strop when another female appears on the scene. Unfortunately, the story line hasn't changed much either, being a thin re-working of the original, although there is an interesting mirroring between mother and daughter--one who was afraid to grow-up and the other distrustful of childhood, with its emphasis on fun and lack of responsibility. It was never going to be easy to follow the originalPeter PanbutReturn to Never Landis an engaging sequel and the uplifting "So To Be One of Us" is Disney music at its best. DVD Description
A double feature containing the original Disney animated 1953 feature, PETER PAN, and it's 2002 theatrically released sequel, RETURN TO NEVER LAND. See individual titles for further details.
PETER PAN (1953): Join mischievous Peter Pan, the young boy who refuses to grow up, his hot-tempered pixie pal, Tinker Bell and the Darling children as they soar away to the mysterious Never-Never land where childhood lasts forever in this magical, musical adventure. Based on J.M. Barrie's 1904 book.
RETURN TO NEVER LAND (2002): In this sequel to the 1953 Disney classic PETER PAN, Wendy is all grown up, with children of her own. She lives in London, which, as the film starts, is in the midst of the devastating German bombardments of World War II. The hardships of war have made Wendy's daughter Jane a practical, level-headed girl, with little time for her mother's wild stories of Peter Pan and Neverland. Jane doesn't believe in fairies and fantasy lands. That is, not until Captain Hook swoops down in his computer-animated pirate ship to kidnap her and whisk her away through a spectacular space portal into Neverland.
Captain Hook wants Jane as bait to finally catch Peter Pan. The crocodile which plagued Hook in the original film has been replaced by a giant orange octopus. Jane just wants to get back home to London, and decides to help Hook find hidden treasure since he promises to take her home. But in order to finally make it home, Jane must learn to believe in faith, trust, and pixie dust. This sequel primarily uses traditional animation, in the same style as the original film, although some modern computer animation is also used. Fans of the classic PETER PAN will enjoy visiting Neverland again.

...Pan has lived on for over 100 years, and Disney's adaptation of the play has only helped fuel its popularity.
Most know of the boy who never grew up, who could fly, who fought pirates and thrived on being simply a child. Adults and children alike love the story of PeterPan, the fantasy tale allows the audience to visit a place of make believe, where anything can and will happen!
After flying 'second star to the right and straight on 'til morning' Wendy and her brothers find themselves in the middle of an adventure world, with pirates, mermaids, indians and of course the villainous Captain Hook. PeterPan, his spirited side-kick Tinker Bell and the courageous Lost Boys show them the excitement NeverLand has to offer. But with the arrival of Wendy and her brothers John and Michael, comes the opportunity for Hook to gain the upper hand...

...----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world will be divided into those that have read the original text, those who cling to the Disney version and those who know little about the story of a boy who didn?t want to grow up. PeterPan is a fantasy, almost elf-like boy, who occasionally visits London to find out more about children?s tales. On this visit, he is looking to find out more about the fate of Cinderella when he encounters the Darling family. Made up of Mr and Mrs Darling, Aunt Millicent, Wendy, Michael, John and Nana the St Bernard, the Darlings appear to be a typical Victorian family who are very close and enjoy each others company. However, Wendy is at the age where she wants to discover more about the world so when she makes the acquaintance of a boy that can fly who promises a land of adventure somewhere in the stars, she follows him taking brothers Michael and John...

Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: Not for everyone, not as good as the first (obviously)
...the afternoon - the latest showing there was. The place was packed out with kiddies, what with it being a kid's film and it being Easter holiday's too. Disney's last release, 'Monsters Inc' was more suitable for other age groups too, whereas 'Return' is really just for little kids.
The film opens on to a night time London sky with characters silouttes emerging from the clouds...quite artistic really...makes the opening credits a bit more watchable. Once the action starts you realise it is set in the time of the Blitz in London. You meet a family of four, Wendy (the little girl from 'PeterPan') and her husband and their two children, Jane and her little brother, Danny. Jane (who you can quickly tell is the sort of heroine of this story) and Danny wave goodbye to their father who goes off to war. Her father tells her to look after her mother...
