Peter Pan is another Disney film which I missed out on as a child so me and hubby bought ourselves the DVD, we are claming that we bought it for the boys but in reality it was for us!

The start of the film introduces us to Wendy, Michael and John Darling who live in London and love stories. Wendy is always telling her younger brother stories about Peter Pan who is a boy who never grew up and lives in Never Land. Peter quite often comes and sits on the roof of the children's house to listen to Wendy's stories. Wendy's father does not like the stories which she makes up and decides it is time for her to move out of the nursery and into her own bedroom and to grow up.

Peter Pan goes into the nursery one night as he has left his shadow their and he makes so much noise he wakes Wendy up and soon he learns that she has to grow up so there will be no more stories. Peter Pan tells Tinkerbell, his fairy friend, that they must take Wendy back to Never Land with them as she must not grow up. Peter teaches Wendy and her brother the secret to flying and soon they are flying off out of the window following Peter Pan to Never Land.

When they arrive there the first thing which they see is a pirate ship which belongs to Captain Hook, the nasty pirate who wants revenge on Peter as he believes it was his fault he had his hand bitten off by the crocodile and now has a hook where his hand should be. He hatches a plan to get Peter to his ship by using Wendy. Peter tells Tinkerbell to take Wendy and the boys to their home but as Tinkerbell is not happy with the children being there she flies off extremely fast and leaves them behind.

What will become of Wendy, Michael and John in Never Land and will Peter be able to stay out of Captain Hook's way or will he finally get his revenge? Ultimately would Wendy have to grow up?

From the very start of this film I was completely hooked, despite never seeing the film I had a very good idea of the story but I was still glued to the screen. The animation which has been used is very basic but for its year of production it is extremely good. The pictures are all nice and bright and every detail has been added.

The story line is not at all believable but for a family film by Disney it is forgiven and it is very enjoyable. I thought that all of the characters were great and the voices which each of them had all fitted extremely well and really brought each individual character to life on the screen.

I found Smee to be very funny and he did add a great amount of humour to the film, the daft and silly things which he did had everyone in my house laughing. My 6 year old and 4 year old also liked him a lot.

Well as you have guessed both me and my hubby enjoyed this film so to my boys opinions. My 4 year old was very excited about watching this film as he already has a Peter Pan dress up costume which of course he had to ware whilst watching and he said that he loved the film and especially the sword fights between Peter and Captain Hook, he also liked Tinkerbell and said she was small and cute. My 6 year old also liked the film despite not being too keen on watching it, he said it was ok and he did enjoy it. He did say that Captain Hook was cool.

The music which was used in the film was extremely good and had me following the story even when no words were said and I think it gave to the atmosphere of the film, we knew when the fighting scenes were coming as the music told us and when playful things would be about to happen as the music would become light and fun. I think the composer of the music for the film did a fantastic job.

The DVD which we have is the Platinum Edition which is packed full of bonus material. Included is:-

All New Digital Restoration with Enhanced Picture and Sound
All new 5.1 Disney Enhanced Home Theatre Mix
All New music Video 'The Second Star To The Right' Performed by T Squad
New Camp Never Land Multileveled Game
Sudoku Challenge
Tarrrget Practice
Tink's Fantasy Flight
Peter Pan's Virtual Flight
Take Flight With Peter Pan above London Square
The London Skyline
Peter Playful Prank DVD Storybook
Never Before seen Alternate Opening
Deleted Scenes
In Walt's Words - A New Discovery! Walt Disney Reveals 'Why I Made Peter Pan'
Sneak Peek at the All New Tinkerbell Movie
And Much More!

Unfortunately we did not have time to watch the bonus material. I was just pleased that we managed to get my boys to sit through the whole of the film without getting bored. My boys are just slight too young for the games and will not at all be interested in the documentaries but when I get some time to my self (not that that happens very often!) I will certainly be having a play around on the games so I will update this for you and let you know what they are like.

The film has a running time of 77 minutes which is a great length as children will actually sit through the whole film and not get bored. I personally found it was a little to short. The film also has a G certificate which means that it is suitable for general viewing by all which I definitely agree with.

We paid around about £10 for our Platinum DVD from Amazon which I feel is a great price for such a magical film. I highly recommend this film to all who have not seen it, old or young and to any one who loves the magic of Disney

I'm sorry for the H, but for this to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in the same detail as your review of the film, not just a list of them.

What a classic! The sequel was awfully boring! Why do they do this to Disney films!
