Great scot I watch some toffee! Pervert is bound to offend so many people on so many levels, but its unforgiving bad that it's good! For those of you that remember the movies of Russ Meyer, Pervert is so much like one of Meyers films that you honestly would have difficulty telling the difference. If I had to say something separates the two styles that would be that Jonathan Yudis' film Pervert is a lot more consistent, with more focus on the story than Meyer ever managed.
Pervert is very much a Tits and Ass film, or to use a term I prefer Knobs and knockers. Pretty much every scene has a reference to sex, and the script that accompanies the audacious activities is just plain hysterical.
After some time away at school James returns home to find his Bible preaching father shacked up by a woman of little or no morals. Each night he desperately tries to sleep while hearing his 83 year old father having sex with his 19 year old girlfriend. As time moves on James discovers that despite his father's impressions of his girlfriend, she just wants sex and money without caring where it comes from. Soon the two engage in some lovemaking of their own. But James hides a terrible secret, in the past his failures with woman and miniscule manhood left him to take matters into his own hands (in more ways than one) a terrible curse has been cast on his penis and soon it comes seeking a terrible revenge.
Pervert is a classic, if you're prepared to let it be, if your liberal minded then it's likely to be the most amusing film that you have seen in a long time. With lines so awful you'll laugh so much that you might well cry. Perverts greatest gift of all is that during its 77 minute run-time your absorbed by the awfulness on screen, so much so that 77 minutes seems like 25 minutes, it starts and ends before you know it.
Pervert has a lot of breast scenes, although you're never confronted with anything visual below belt so to speak. In fact most of Perverts filthiness is in what your mind lets you believe you have seen rather than what you actually have. You end the movie thinking it's pretty much the dirtiest movie you have seen in a long time, but you have not seen anything that you might not see on TV any night.
The big deal of the movie is James detachable claymation penis, which has a thirst to kill; and at the very least have sex. Watching semi naked women being chased through the desert by a clay penis is as amusing as the image your probably concocting in your mind as you read this. Everyone that comes face to face with the penis is seen shortly after running in peril with their hands in the air while screaming in the opposite direction from the penis, which for the most part is filmed using stop-motion filming, while on other occasions is literally dragged along the floor on a piece of string.
The key issue with Pervert that some people inexperienced with Grindhouse style movie mentality is that it's made bad deliberately. All those ridiculous and stupid images that you have in your mind are cast upon the screen, if it's stupid it's in the movie. The lines so badly delivered are probably better thought out and rehearsed than any blockbuster movie. To make a movie look this bad takes a great amount of time and effort.
In the cast there will be nobody that you will notice from anything else; these are all ex porn stars and glamour models looking to add a string to their bow of talents. I'm told that many gave their time voluntarily to the cause in order to get some form of appreciation, while others were such fans of Meyer that they had to get involved in this movie, at whatever level.
Some classic moments of the movie involve the penis forcing its way from one end of its victim to the other (if you get my meaning) having lured her into its wicked trick by a little lovemaking. One of the characters rips out their own heart in the hope that as they put it "Give this to Patty it will make a good tit". And the excellent montage scenes that separate the portions of the movie are incredibly art house, that even the likes of David Lynch might be envious of both the directors talent, and upfront damnright bloody mindedness.
Special Features:-
Extended lesbian scenes - These needs no explanation although I will again re-iterate that you don't see any reall nudity . Deleted scenes - A few scenes that just did not make the cut, a couple of them would have been welcome editions; but one could well have distorted the movies message. Bloopers - Unusually the most serious element of the DVD, because the when the bloopers occur they are actually not that funny, the humour is only in the film itself. Trailers and a photo gallery. - I'll never understand the purpose of photo galleries and the one big let down with this movie is that it fails to do anything out of the ordinary to make this any more interesting. The reality is a series of pretty awful screenshots that most "normal" people will never look at.
Pervert is retailing for around £15 on the High Street, and £12.99 online from Amazon and Play, my advice if you're tempted to see it is to try renting it then making a decision from there.
The Unholy Alliance tour
The Unholy Alliance tour is an annual tour of Europe and North America. It is headlined by the thrash band Slayer. The 2006 tour also featured InFlames, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Thine eyes bleed.
Preaching to the pervertedDVD
This is one of the best tour DVDs that i have seen. It has some of Slayers best songs including "Angel of Death" and "South of Heaven" The performances are great from all bands and it got me into Children Of Bodom, who i had not heard before. It contains all the usual behinds the scene footage and exclusive interviews.
My experience
As i couldn't see the tour live i decided the DVD was the next best thing. After getting a mate round, we shoved it on and cranked up the volume. My main interest was Slayer although i did enjoy them all (Especially ...
Advantages: Good 'making of' extra Disadvantages: Main section is uninteresting
This video is unfair exploitation of the contestants. Many of them protested over the release of this video, thinking it unfair that scenes of them in the toilet should be seen. Do you really want to see it anyway? The main of part of the DVD is extremely boring, and as I said, a bit perverted at times. The only good thing about this is the documentary ‘extra?, which is 45 minutes long, and better than the main feature. This shows how Big Brother was made, and if you didn?t catch this on TV a couple of months back, it?s certainly very interesting. Not sure if it?s worth it though. ...
Advantages: Colourful, detailed art Disadvantages: Average storylines, lazy animation, few extras
and has perverted references as well as a lot of violence. I personally wouldn't allow my children below the age of 12 to watch it else they pick up being perverted, telling people they would kill them or getting into fights just to be like Jing. It's up to individual opinion, but that's mine.
This DVD comes with the first 4 episodes of the King of Bandit Jing series. They are:
The Capital Of Thieves
The Ghost Ship Of Blue Hawaii
The Adonis Capital Of Time (Parts 1 & 2)
These episodes introduce you to Jing and what he does, and also how Postino aids Jing in his thieving quests. The extras on this DVD are not much, you can watch it in the original Japanese voices (with subtitles and it actually makes it slightly better to watch) or check out the pre-production sketches of the series. This DVD has very little else, so don't be ...
