DVD Description
WACKY RACES spin-off series THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP sees everyone's favourite damsel-in-distress on the run from the nefarious Sylvester Sneakly (aka 'The Hooded Claw'), who's after her vast fortune. But for all her girly charms, this Southern belle is no pushover in her stylish retro-chic go-go boots and can fight back with the best of them. In fact, she often ends up rescuing her bumbling but well-intentioned minders, the Ant Hill Mob, after their failed attempts at rescuing her! PERILS is a curious mix of sexism (the stereotypical helpless woman overly concerned with her own appearance) and feminism (she's clever, athletic and uses her ingenuity to evade capture) wrapped up cheesy 70s comedy gold.
Advantages: Three great plays in one set Disadvantages: No extras
...Alan Ayckbourn is probably one of the greatest comedic playwrights of his generation. His plays are extremely well-executed looks at the frailties and foibles of everyday life and of "ordinary" people.
The Norman Conquests (staring Tom Conti as Norman) was made by Thames Television. It is a series of individual plays that cover the weekend of a weekend at a house in the country.
The play are entitled Table Manners, Living Together, and Round and Round the Table. The audience is allowed to eavesdrop on a series of happenings and events that all involve the characters who are living at or staying at the house over the weekend.
The events start at about 5.30 on the Saturday afternoon and continue through until a little after 9 on Monday morning.
Each play is complete of itself, but you would miss the joy of watching everything unfold...

...Many years ago after a spat with a witch, the Wilhern family had a terrible curse put on it. The witch vowed that the first born daughter of the direct Wilhern bloodline would be cursed with a terrible deformity; the only way to break the spell is to find a husband of aristocratic decent who will love her for what she truly does.
Many years later and after the odd hiccup through infidelity a direct descendant is born to Franklin and Jessica (Played by Richard E. Grant and Catherine O'Hara respectively). Thinking they have fought of the curse unaware that there was the odd unfaithful soul in the family, Franklin and Jessica are mortified by their daughter born with a pig's snout. As Penelope (Christina Ricci) becomes a woman she knows it's time to find a man, and through a series of adverts men are invited to visit the home...

Advantages: Dalek is one of the best ever episodes! Disadvantages: The first two aren't.
...then have to contend with a stupid pig costume.
All this rather obstructs the plot - which isn't a bad idea in itself, it's just badly realized.

WORLD WAR THREE - BROADCAST APRIL 23rd
Our previous episode saw the whole planet in peril after the Slitheen have taken over the British government. Can our hero the Doctor save the day? …
This is the second part of the worst Doctor Who story in the new series. I would love to say this was a huge improvement on the first part - but it isn't really. It is slightly better. For starters, there are no pigs...
