After two decades in the bookshelves, this publishing phenomenal story came out surprisingly from the pages of a novel Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer of Patrick Süskind and became a worldwide must-see film by Tom Tykwer, not only amazes but also thrilling and terrifying the crowds of audiences around the world.

This film started up at the very first day of the life of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille when he was left in a fish market which was played by Ben Whishaw, a fresh and young actor, wherein, the crowd's appreciation exceeded beyond expectation for excellently delivering the genuine theme of the story.

As the story goes, Grenouille, a man of few words, have grown up in an orphanage until a tanner bought him and made him a laborer until such time he met a well-known perfumer Giuseppe Baldini (played by Dustin Hoffman) who bought Grenouille to his employer and hires him to work in his perfume shop after being convinced of Grenouille's excellent sense of smell.

Interestingly, the film depicted the usual situation of a young man who is suffering from poverty and living alone but had that dream to go on with the life's blessings.

Grenouille has been an intelligent misanthropic perfumer with an excellent sense of smell turned-to murderer for the sake of developing his own perfect combination of perfume scent called the 13th-note perfume from the distilled scents of more than a dozen of young and beautiful ladies which he murders until such time he aimed to get the scent of Laura Richis (played by Rachel Hurd-Wood) to complete his sets of perfume.

Thrilling the crowds with murders, the film brilliantly gave the viewers a feeling of intimidation for using well scented perfumes, but on the other hand, gave them knowledge on the process of making perfumes during that part when Baldini taught Grenouille the basic concepts of perfume making. This part can spark a good business-minded person to start a perfume business.

In conclusion, what made the film very interesting to the crowds despite of the story's prominence as a novel in prints was, the film kept the original concept of the novel's author from its characters up to its historical accounts of the scenes in Paris and the City of Grasse in Provence. Having an excellent cinematography, this film created an awe-inspiring scene of Paris in the 18th century that depicted the true-to-life historical accounts, from the well crafted structures, common places, life and traditions of the people, as well as in the costumes. The readers then of the novel won't feel uneasiness to the flow of the story but rather be awed to the actions defined by the cast in the film.
