John & Jaime Lee Work Up A (Bad) Sweat Together!
Review of Perfect (Wide Screen) by eve6kicksass

Advantages: The stars look good, Jaime Lee in a leotard...ooooo
Disadvantages: Awful script, atrocious dialogue, abysmal story, many other things

...their collaboration in 1985 called PERFECT was a massive failure; not only did it bomb at the box office, but people laughed at it and critics trashed it. I had never seen it before to be honest, so I decided to give it a chance this week and see if all that negativity was warranted. ****************************************************************** MEE T ADAM LAWRENCE, THE SPHINCTER MUSCLE ****************************************************************** ...
...is obsessed with developing the perfect body, as well as her friends Sally (Marilu Henner) and her boyfriend Roger (Matthew Reed), the latter of whom works as a Chippendale in a male strip club. However, Adam is taken aback by Jessie (Jaime Lee Curtis), who is considered the "pied piper" of aerobics instructors. Adam desperately wants to interview Jessie, though she declines, and she is so adamant about that because of the fact that back when she ... Read review

Review of The Perfect Storm (Wide Screen) by  projectlaughter

Advantages: good plot,
Disadvantages: strange ending

...When I first saw The Perfect Storm in a movie theatre I thought it was at times moving and a real thrill ride. Some reviewers have attacked the film for using a lot of sentiment and on a second viewing some of the views are fair. However once the storm hits you are gripped by some awesome effects. Now on to the dvd itself. The film is presented in 2.35:1 wide screen and is enhanced for wide screen TV’s. The transfer is perfect and very sharp. Sometime dvd transfers have a problem with water in a film. No such troubles here. The sound mix has been nominated for an Oscar and it's easy to see why. It's a very enveloping mix, which uses all speakers once the Andrea Gail is caught up in the storm. The 5.1EX mix also makes use of the extra back channel if you have the ability. It's just a shame that this doesn't have a DTS track... Read review

Excellent, get sucked right in.
Review of The Perfect Storm (Wide Screen) by  essexboy

Advantages: Excellent atmosphere
Disadvantages: Slow to start

...transferred to the screen, with powerhouse performances by the entire cast - particularly that of John Hawkes as Bugsy Moran (but you would be hard pressed to go wrong with a cast that includes George Clooney, Bill Fichtner and John Reilly). It would seem that with The Perfect Storm and Three Kings, Mark Wahlberg is setting out to redeem himself for such past efforts as The Big Hit. He absolutely shines here! Obvious comparisons to Das Boot will and have been made - I won't bother, only to say that this is Wolfgang Petersen's best work since. Dialogue is rich and realistic. Structure is intriguing and well paced. Technical work is of the highest standard. I have little bad to say about this film. A note on the visual effects - they are so good and there are so many of them, that you soon forget about them - isn't that how it should be... Read review

A Review of The Perfect Storm
Review of The Perfect Storm (Wide Screen) by  jodymarie

Advantages: A really great film
Disadvantages: A bit too wet

...Based on Sebastian Jungers top selling novel this film tells the true story of the fishing boat Andrea Gail. This epic depicts the trials of the boat and it's crew as it heads into one of the greatest hurricanes known to man. The plot is quite simple from the start, lots of wind, rain and waves higher than the Empire States building. One thing that makes this film different to others is that it centres around man verse forces of nature, rather than man vers man. There is some macho action, well, what eles would you expect from a film that stars both Clooney and Whalberg. If your a fan of Clooney you won't be disapointed, as rugged unshaven Clooney makes a really big impact as he hangs onto all weird parts of the boat, fighting for his life against The Perfect Storm. The Titanic this is not, sorry no tear jerking ending for me... Read review

DVD Description

John Travolta stars as a Rolling Stone reporter who travels to Los Angeles to investigate a drug case and decides to write an expose of the health-club craze of the 1980s. Reporter Adam Lawrence (Travolta) sets out to trash the fitness craze as just a replacement of the shallow singles bar scene of the 1970s. He even has a title in mind: "Looking for Mr. Goodbody." As he researches his story, Adam meets Jessie (Jamie Lee Curtis), a sexy fitness instructor who has little use for scribes like him. Adam charms the reluctant Jessie, and before long the hot couple is working out together--in more ways than one. Suddenly Adam is faced with a quintessential dilemma of journalism: Can he be Jessie's lover and still ridicule her friends and workplace
