Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles
Every day I feel thankful for the extra children’s channels that Sky offer as I don’t think I could live only with Cbeebies any longer! And now my daughter is at the age where she will happily have a DVD on whilst playing, I am even more thankful if I need a rest from playing and look towards my pile of washing that’s been waiting for ages to be put on!
Peppa Pig is one of my daughters newest fascinations after winning a toy Peppa on holiday a few months ago. My young sister decided she was too old for her DVD of Peppa Pig and along it came to our house, much to my daughters happiness.
PEPPA PIG
Peppa Pig is a lovely animated children’s programme about a family of lovable pigs, each episode five minutes long so short enough to keep even young children amused. This DVD also runs each of the twelve episodes for around five minutes each too.
As well as Peppa’s family, Peppa has some lovely friends, each a different species of animal to help children learn about animals. Each episode tend to feature everyday activities which children can relate to such as playgroup or as in one episode on this DVD, muddy puddles in the rain.
CHARACTERS
The characters in Peppa Pig are all fun loving and lovable characters, in the main all children except for Peppa’s parents and grandparents. They are all very lifelike (even though they are animals) all wearing clothes and driving cars (the adults anyway!). Each character talk well though their respective animal sounds (such as a pigs snort) do enter into conversations at times and also have their animal loves, such as the rabiits loving eating
carrots.
Peppa herself, is like every young child, sensitive yet bossy, loves teddies, school and games. Her younger brother isn’t as vocal as Peppa though Peppa looks after him like a big sister would. Daddy Pig is a stereotypical fun loving daddy who eats too much while mummy (as what usually happens!) is more practical and down to earth. Granny and Grandpa Pig are also the loving characters providing a beautiful family (even if they are pigs!)
Other animal families in Peppa Pig include Zebras, Rabbits, Dogs, Cats, Sheep, Ponies, Elephants and Donkeys which teach the children well about a range of different animals which they can relate to in this lovely programme.
Each of the adult characters also have specific jobs to do such as Mr Zebra is a postman and Daddy Pig works in an office, and Dr Elephant is a dentist so children start learning about their parents jobs in the real world which is great.
MUDDY PUDDLES
Muddy Puddles and other stories DVD features ten episodes of Peppa Pig as well as two bonus episodes (though I don’t know why they are bonus ones as they are just the same as the other episodes).
The episodes include the following;
Muddy Puddles It has been raining hard and Peppa and George put on their boots and go and jump in the muddy puddles. No surprises that my daughter started jumping in puddles after this one!
Mr. Dinosaur is Lost Peppa becomes a detective after her brother looses his favorite toy. After this episode my daughter started hunting for her toys and actually putting them in her toybox for once – the one and only time mind you!
Polly Parrot Granny and Grandpa have a new parrot in which Peppa and George go to see. Introducing yet another animal, though this time a real animal rather than an animal person.
Best Friend Susie Sheep, Peppas best friend, comes to play and do not want to play with George which leaves George upset…until Peppa and Susie need a patient when they begin playing doctors. Imaginative episode full of laughter once again.
Hide and Seek Peppa and George are playing hide and seek when George goes missing and Peppa cant find him anywhere. Another lovely episode full of family friendship and fun.
The Playgroup It is George’s first day at playgroup though Peppa isn’t happy as it is ‘her’ playgroup, though soon Peppa becomes proud of her brother and is glad he is there. One of the best episodes on this DVD and helps children who are going to start a playgroup learn what it might be like.
Mummy Pig at Work Peppa breaks mummy pigs computer and daddy has to fix it More learning fun in this great episode.
Camping The Pig family go camping though Daddy pig eats too much and cant fit in the tent. A really funny episode where you actually feel sorry for daddy!
Gardening Peppa is planting a strawberry tree whilst George tries to plant his pet dinosaur in the hope it will grow into a dinosaur tree. A sweet episode which after me and my daughter went to the garden to plant some seeds which my daughter named ‘Peppa Seeds’.
Bicycles Peppa’s stabalisers are taken off of her bike and she has an accident though all works out well in the end. Helps children who are learning to ride a bike.
Plus 2 Bonus Episodes!
The New Car The Pig car breaks down and they can not get the roof up just as it starts pouring with rain. Another lovely funny episode.
Snow Peppa and George have fun in the snow though Peppa throws a big snowball at George and makes him cry. A lovely final episode to the DVD.
Each episode as mentioned above is five minutes long which altogether runs for around an hour. Each episode helps children relate to everyday activities and it is filled with fun and laughter which both children and adults enjoy. The length of each episode is great aswell as it holds childrens attention much better than one long film.
Myself and my daughter do have our favourites on this disc though none of the episodes are bad at all which is a plus.
EDUCATIONAL VALUE
We all wonder as to how much television our children should watch as to whether it will rot their brains though with programmes such as Peppa Pig I don’t think we need to worry. Not only is it funny and exciting, it also teaches the child about everyday things and some which the child will be able to relate to. It is a very subtle teaching unlike programmes such as the Tweenies, though it is very enjoyable and often find myself watching it even after my daughter has fallen asleep (how embarrassing!)
STORY AND LANGUAGE
As already specified, the stories in each stand alone episode are cute and funny and holds the childs attention well. The language is very simple to understand and often funny and brings the child right into the programme and the characters.
QUALITY
The quality of the DVD is as good as on the television with colourful scenes and characters and good quality filming.
This DVD can be brought from between £3.00 to £7.00 on Ebay and Amazon and other retailers.
FINAL WORD
This is a must have DVD for any Peppa Pig lover as my daughter doesn’t often sit and watch a whole length DVD though she does with this one.
It has wonderful characters, sweet storylines, and teaches the child about everyday things.
