I am married with three children. I love horses and have a couple for myself and youngest daughter. I also love travelling. I particularly love North America and my family and I try to have a holiday there every other year.

I was flying home from my fabulous holiday in Las Vegas last April and our flight had a wonderful choice of movies on our own individual little screens in the headrest of the seat in front. I chose to watch Pay It Forward, partly because I am a big fan of all the main stars, Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osmant, and partly because it is based in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately, I didn't get around to choosing it earlier because about twenty minutes from the end of the movie the flight attendant anounced that we where preparing our descent and all the TV monitors went off. So, last night, when I saw Pay It Forward in Blockbuster I picked it up to start it again and see how it all ended up.
The movie begins with a reporter having his car wrecked during a police stake out and a stranger walks up to him through the pouring rain and throws him the keys to his new Jag. He asks for the reporters business card and says he will be in touch to explain (about the Pay It Forward) Next we cut to four months earlier.
The movie as everyone know's by now is about a little kid who's disfigured teacher gives the class and assignment to "Do something to change the world". Trevor (Osmant) decides to help a bum by taking him home and feeding him and giving him all his savings to buy some decent clothes so he can get a job. His only condition is that Jerry (the bum) must pay this favour forward by doing a good turn for three other people, and those people must pay forward to do good turns for three more people each, and so the pyramid effect grows. In the meantime as one of Trevors other good turns he decides to try and get his alcoholic mother and his teacher together.
I'm not going to say anymore about the storyline as I don't like to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but I will say that all three actors give an absolutely superb performance, especially that adorable kid. I know it's a bit shmaltzy for some peoples taste but I like this kind of movie. The scenery is gorgeous, or maybe I noticed the scenery more because I'd just been there, I don't know but andway it is!
So, I eventually got to see the final half hour of the movie and all I will say is it's probably just as well I didn't see it on the plane. Blub Blub!

Advantages: Brilliantly acted, good idea, really enjoyable movie for the family to watch together Disadvantages: I did not like the ending at all, and really didn't see the relevance

Review of Pay It Forward (DVD)
Advantages: Somewhat original story, original concept, great performances, touching, makes you think Disadvantages: A bit over sentimental for some (you'll need to be armed with tissues!)
