Kevin James.....Paul Blart Keir O'Donnell....Veck Jayma Mays.....Amy Stephen Rannazzisi.....Stuart
*****Plot*****
Paul Blart is a mall cop (who would have guessed ) who takes his role a little bit more seriously than his fellow mall cops. He gets his chance to shine when a gang of crooks takes over the mall.
*****Opinion on Cast*****
I was looking forward to seeing this mainly because Kevin James was starring in it. However, I didn't really like him in this role. It seemed like he was trying to hard and was much better in 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' and 'King of Queens' where I think the characters may be more like the real Kevin James.
The characters of Veck and Amy were well played and even though they had much smaller roles than Kevin James, I preferred their performance.
The only other character I feel is worth mentioning is Stuart played by Stephen Rannazzisi. Constantly trying to put Blart down to impress Amy, but not getting anywhere. It was clear what he was going to do once the crooks took over the mall.
*****Opinion on Movie*****
As I said before I was looking forward to seeing this. A previous bad review I had read didn't put me off, but lowered my expectations a little. Even those expectations weren't met.
Right from the beginning I didn't like the fact that he was trying to impress Amy. Every movie follows this same basic storyline and it's getting tiresome.
I think the opportunity for a good movie was there, the cats and storyline was good. As was the setting (mall). But I just wasn;t impressed.
There was only two parts of the movie which I laughed at and there was no originality to the movie.
The best aspect of the movie was probably that the gang of crooks seemed to be made up of a group of free-runners and skateboard/bmx freestylers, which made some scenes more exciting and good to watch.
5/10......Wouldn't recommend, review headline could easily have been :
Paul Blart : Mall Flop
