Got a dream boy, got a song , this as a film full of dreams and songs , dreams of the western pioneers looking for a better life encompassed and expressed in song. Basically its yet again another love triangle between the two prospectors , Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood and the woman they both fall in love with. Historically correct , of course not , you could not really imagine those prospectors bursting into song at every conceivable moment , but it is still after all a musical , and viewed as a light harmless entertainment it is excellent . Lee Marvin singing " I was born under wandering star " is one of cinemas memorable moments .And hearing Clint Eastwood `s rendition of " I talked to the trees" is certainly something different . The cinematography is excellent ,the direction moves along at a fast pace and the musical numbers are extremely well staged. if you enjoy musicals this is a film well worth making the effort to see. availabe on video . sell through . should be able to buy at under £5 -
