Plot Outline
Animal Vet Henry's sister Chloe takes him to see a Psychic named Ashley after his wife, Kate, is crushed by an 'angel' ice sculpture on their wedding day. Henry does not believe in Psychic powers all that much, especially when their reading is interrupted. Though, Chloe is determined to make him smile again, so she passes Kate's diary onto Ashley in order for her to 'fake' messages from beyond.
After regularly seeing each other now, Ashley and Henry fall for one another and start dating. Meanwhile, Kate - now an angel - wanders Earth in order to complete her mission; she feels she ought to do all she can to break up Henry and Ashley. Revealing her presence to the Psychic, Kate follows Ashley around, teasing her, never leaving her alone. Will she succeed? Can she split up the couple?

What Did I Think?
It's not very often that I give a film top marks; there are usually one or two flaws. Though, I find myself giving complete praise and nothing less to Over Her Dead Body. Although I was not too familiar with the plot before I went to see it, it still was nothing like what I had in mind. I expected it to be more of a chick-flick (something I cannot always watch), but instead it was more like a straight comedy!The story itself is not too unique; there have been a few similar films, the general idea of trying to break up a relationship. How the director has approached this though is a lot more personal and exciting.
It's been a while since I found myself actually laughing out loud at a film; I tend o just giggle inside my head. Surprising myself, I did laugh at this film on more than one occasion! Without giving away the most hysterical bits (I hate it when that happens), I'll just say the two incidents I found the most comic involve an overweight lump of a dog, and a hotdog (or Spanish Sausage). I think both issues on their own sound rather amusing!
I was very impressed with the cast line-up too, perhaps one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. The first fantastic piece of talent is none other that Paul Rudd. He has been one of my favourite actors ever since he was cast as Mike Hannigan in American TV show Friends. He always makes me smile, so I was sure this film would be a winner, just based on that! Then there's Lindsay Sloan. I'm not sure how well-known she is for her recent roles in film and television, but for those Sabrina The Teenage Witch fans, you will adore her for her role as Valerie! She too is a fantastic actress! Of course, there is no denying the great talents of the rest of the cast, I had just never heard of them until now!
The length of the film is quite a delight too. I'd say it isn't too long, so it doesn't drag on, but at the same time, it's not so short that the quantity of detail is weak. I suppose the time went by rather quickly too because I enjoyed it so much!
Do I Recommend?
I have absolutely no problems recommending this film to anybody! With a certificate of 12A, it means that anybody can see it, providing they are accompanied if underage. I think the humour in it would apply to a wide variety of people, though the way the jokes are portrayed may be picked up differently. If you like films like Bruce Almighty, then this is certainly a film for you! If you have never seen Bruce Almighty, then I'd suggest you go and experience the wonders of this film all the same!
***** Over Her Dead Body is an exceptionally hilarious film, with a great cast line-up and fantastic plot. The film becomes more interesting as the plot progresses, with many a surprise cropping up. This definitely puts a different image on the more traditional 'angel', and is most certainly one of the best films I have ever seen! Now I just need to wait for the release of the DVD!

When Henry and Ashley appear to get closer and closer, Kate, who Is still roaming the earth, believes it is her duty to make sure that Ashley keeps as far away from her fiancé as possible. Ashley on the other hand, is determined not to let Henry slip through her fingers, so the women, one dead and one alive, battle it out. ... ...can safely put this in the chick lit category without any question, but isn't one of the better ones. This isn't truly awful and I admit to seeing a lot worse, but this doesn't stop it from being a total pile of rubbish. What could have been made in to more of an interesting story is wasted with silly little jokes that just don't go far enough to make it worth while. Over Her Dead Body is a comedy film starring Eva Longoria Parker (from Desperate Housewives) as Kate and Paul Rudd (Phoebe's husband from Friends) as Henry her fiancé. The film starts on the day of Kate and Henrys wedding and Kate is fussing over the preparations, not happy with anything and becomes really annoyed because the giant ice sculpture of an angel she has commissioned has no wings. She demands the man takes it away but as he is reversing ... ...finds that she is now an angel (with no wings!) and must complete a mission to move on, however in Kate's usual fashion she is too busy complaining to listen to what she is supposed to be doing.
Meanwhile Henry is struggling to come to terms with Kate's death so his sister Chloe takes him to see a Psychic called Ashley to try to get Henry to move on. Henry isn't really convinced that it will work and Ashley psychic powers are slightly lacking so ...

***Film Only Review*** Over her dead body is another romantic comedy that doesn't quite deliver I'm afraid. Its a simple story where in Kate (Eva Longoria Parker) is accidentally killed on her wedding day and thinks she is still around to save her fiance; Henry (Paul Judd) from getting involved with Ashley (Lake Bell) when really she is just stopping him moving on and being happy. There are a few key reasons why this film isn't quite as good as it ... ...Bell who plays the open minded psychic Ashley had the only performance that leaves any impression. Paul Judd who appears to be the same character in everything he does recently, is a little wooden and I found it really hard to get involved with his character and to attach any emotion to his situation. He should have been lovable and provoked sympathy, but I couldn't help feeling a little bored by him. Eva Longoria Parker is a very similar case. I ...

...him a while to get over it so his sister gives him the idea of going to visit a psychic as this might help him through it contacting his dead fiancée. However, Henry is a sceptic so he isn't really sure of this idea but after his sister pushing him he decided to give it a try.
The psychic that he goes to see is a woman called Ashley (Lake Bell). She does this for a living and is always with her gay friend Dan (Jason Biggs) who is always giving her ... ...this because he was sad over his wife dying by a collapsing ice sculpture which brings no real tear to my eye.
Eva Longoria should stick to Desperate Housewives as this was not good and her voice was so irritating, she just kept appearing and trying to be funny but it wasn't working at all. She seems ok in Desperate Housewives because she isn't a main focus all of the time and her character seems a lot like her but in other films she has been ok ...

I think Eva Longoria is great in Desperate Housewives so I rented this film and it was better than i expected it to be as with the title i was not expecting much out of the film, but i was plesantly suprised.
It is a romantic comedy in which Kate played by Eva Longoria is killed on her wedding day to Henry played by Paul Rudd. Henry then is devestated he lost his Fiancee and agrees to try to contact Kate through a Psychic. Unfortunately Kate along ... ...her man. Especially when Henry and Ashley the Psychic fall in love with each other.Ashley is then being haunted by Kate's ghost, who tries everything in her power to break them up as no one can have her man.
This film has so many funny moments in it and has a great ending. The story-line is really cheesy and also predictable, bt i think with a film like this you know how it is going to pan out, I thoroughly enjoyed this film and could watch it again.

I had wanted to see this film for some time and having read mixed reviews on it I thought I would give it a go especially as I managed to get it for a great price.
The start of the film sees the wedding of Kate and Henry who are madly in love but tragedy strikes when Kate gets crushed by an angel ice sculpture and dies. We see Kate being talked to by an Angel but as she is too busty arguing with her that she is not an Angel as she doesn?t have wings she does not hear what she has to do in order to pass over to heaven.
We then move to a year later when Henry is still depressed over Kate?s death and his sister takes charge of him and suggests that he goes to see a medium so he can finally get closure and move on. They go to see Ashley and she is unable to help at first but after a visit from Henry?s sister she is persuaded to read ...
Advantages: Eva Longoria Parker Disadvantages: Average, a bit boring
like she has much of a range based on this, however she does play this sort of character well. Paul Rudd is best known for his two season long role on Friends as Mike, and he plays the innocent boyfriend very well in this, although someone else could have done the role just as well. Lake Bell performs very well, and she?s an actress to watch out for, I?ll definitely be looking out for any other films she?s starred in as I haven?t seen her in anything else. She was Ashley, the psychic haunted by her boyfriends dead ex, and managed to portray a range of emotions that were very believeable. Lindsay Solane and Jason Bigg?s play Ashley?s sister Chloe and Ashley?s gay friend Dan respectively, and they fall in love.
It got a really awful reception with the critics, 15% of the reviews were positive, and although it wasn?t great I didn?t feel ...

'OverHerDeadBody' possesses a repetitive theme that's been done before with varying storylines and scenarios. As the theme goes, the ghost (in this case Kate) misunderstands what she's supposed to do, and erroneously interferes in her ex-lover's life (in this case Henry). The story is very much as expected with unsurprising twists and turns, comedic moments and a touching ending? but what isn't expected is that the movie is actually quite good because, although the storyline is transparent, its quirkiness is endearingly sweet? but that, I'll say it now, is because of Eva Longoria Parker's presence. Eva is the epitome of quirkiness, and she is an ace at coming across as all sweet and innocent while possessing a 'cutting' edge that is ...
