In my humble opinion this series never received the critical acclaim it deserved. With superb acting, particularly from Christopher Eccleston, and a deeply moving and interesting story line, it was one of the best BBC productions for many years. A great cast was assembled and the story was told in a clear and dramatic fashion. I am amazed that it hardly ever gets mentioned these days as I truly believed it to be a masterpiece of it's time. Of course, many of the cast have gone on to bigger things, Doctor Who and James Bond, to name but two, but I am sure they would all be very proud of the part they played in this production over ten years ago. I know I am going a bit over the top here, but believe me, it was that good.
