Introduction
Only Fools and Horses is a british comedy which began in 1981 as you may not know. The whole concept of Only Fools and Horses is about two cockney brothers , Del and Rodney. Del is aged around his early thirties when the series first started and Rodney was around ten years younger , around twenty one years old. They both share a flat which belonged to their late mother who Del was very close to , but Rodney doesn't remeber much about his mother as he was only a little " Nipper " when she died...
Del has to look after Rodney as their father Reg , left their south London flat in peckham on Del's 17th birthday after an arguament with their mother. Del earns his money as a market trader and Rodney helps him out until he finds a new job at a computer bussiness when he meets his later series wife " Cassandra " and her father gives him a job...
Del and Rodney have also had their grandad living with them , until he passed away in 1985 on the show and in reality. Grandad was played by the great Leonard Pearce and he is greatly missed by many of us...
Uncle Albert also comes into the picture after his brother " Grandad " dies and he meets Del and Rodney at grandad's funeral reception at the flat. He stays with distant relatives but then they move away leaving Albert with Del and Rodney. Albert ( Who is played by Buster Merrifield) passed away in the 1990's which left the Trotter brothers with even lesser relatives...
Only Fools and Horses just didn't have the same touch after Albert and Grandad passed away , the show just missed that little bit of sarcastic humour. They are greatly missed..
I think that the background storyline for this comedy is very well thought out. I must say that I have never watched nearly every episode of a comedy before exept this one and I honestly think all of the episodes are good , but the Jolly Boys' Outing is the best episode by far...
Now Onto the Jolly Boys' Outing...
The Plot
Rodney , the youngest brother is working for Cassandra's father's printing bussiness so Rodney has left Trotter's Independent Trader's which is Del's market trading self bussiness , so good old Uncle Albert is helping Del out and earning some money. Del then decides that he is going to organize a Beano to Margate. In other words , an annual trip with the boys from the nags head...
Del organises the event and he also asks Cassandra's father and Cassandra's boss " Steven " if they would come on the Beano. Alan ( Cassandra's Father ) decides to go mainly for the jellied eels , and Steven , the posh snobby boss insists that he's a yuppie and he would rather stay. Rodney dislikes Steven a lot and it is easy to see why as he seems to rule Cassandra's life with her bank work.
So Del and Rodney set off to catch the coach which is being drove by one of the boys , and faces such as Trigger , Boycie , and Denzil all come on the day - trip and hope to have a good time , but do they?...
They coach stops at a half way house for a few beers when Del bumps into Mike's rival pub manager who gives them free tickets for a entertaintment night down in Margate. Del thinks that he won't want them and so he can flog them to the punters as he says , but will they be in Margate longer than they think?....
The boys' finally get down to Margate and it seems they are having a great time on the bech , at the fair , and eating chips. There is also an emotional scene where Del and Rodney are sat near the pier and they discuss their mother and how she is compared to Rodney's future wife , Cassandra...
As they are leaving Margate , they are wating for Harry , the drunken bus driver to drive back , but Rodney accidently kicks a ball at a policeman and gets temporarily arrested. When Rodney comes out , he talks on the phone to Cassandra when all of a sudden the coach blows up with a great bang. How could it of happened? Was it due to the fact of one of Del's dodgy DAB Radio's which was just fitted in?...
As hell looms , more and more worry's start to come to the boys'. After the coach goes up in flames , what will happen to the day trip? Will the boys' be in Margate for a longer time? And for Del , there is a good surprise in store!!!....
I think that the plot of the episode is a great storyline. It is so well thought and really goes with the Fools And Horses traditions...
The Cast
I think that all of the actors in this big episode really act the part. Each character has their own unique comical way of acting their part. Del who is the most funniest acts his comedy just so spontaniously which i think is great and gives the program that bit more realism. There are others such as the saracastic Boycie ( John Challis ) and the very thick but hilarious Trigger...
My Opinion
In my opinion I think that this is one of the best comedy programes and DVD's ever made. It is so hilarious , and the plot is so interesting. The originality of the Jolly Boys' Outing is brilliant as it is just like old Fools and Horses times. It is so hilarious and i never get bored of watching it , so thats why i love it so much!!!...

...aware, I am a massive Only Fools and Horses fan. I had always watched them when I was young however it was not until they more or less came to an end with the Christmas Trilogy back in 1996, that I took a more active interest in these loveable characters.
Each episode features highly in my opinion however this particular feature length epiosde The Jolly Boys Outing is by far in my top five of episodes, if not within the top three. This episode was ... ...in my opinion is the only episode that features all characters together, to give this extra glory in itself.
The Jolly Boys Outing is a regular occurance in Peckham, as most men probably are familiar with these weekends. For the Peckham guys, there weekend is a trip to Margate on a bank holiday weekend, to do what all fella's do best, get plastered with their mates, and generally "what happens in Margate, stays in Margate"
Rodney and Cassandra ...

...one of the very best Only Fools and Horses Specials ever produced. The fun and frolics of the Trotter Brothers continue in this feature length special seeing the boys go on a beano to Margate. There is a romantic twist to this story, when Del bumps into his ex at a club that they go to, could this be the ...

Advantages: A clasic episode offering bundles of laughter Disadvantages: The thaught of no more being made
This clasic feature lenght episode is one of my favourite fools and horses episodes. All episodes crack me up, but this one went over that. I was literealy crying with laughter. And i normally keep my laughter inside. This was a christmass episode from 1989. I sure you can guess the general story line from the title, about 20 of the boys, take a trip to margate, a wonderfully dull place. The trouble starts before they even get there, at the half ... ...un able to stand whilst rodney kicks a football into a coppers face.
