Producer: Gareth Gwenlan Director: Tony Dow Writer: John Sullivan Stars: David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Buster Merryfield, Tessa Peake-Jones and Gwyneth Strong.
These two feature length episodes were first aired over Christmas 1991, episode 1, being 50 minutes long, was aired on 24th of December, the second, being 95 minutes long, airing on Christmas day.
The first episode was originally entitled ‘The American Dream’, the second entitled ‘Oh To Be in England’
Although when released on DVD it is as one show and 139 minutes long, losing just over five minutes from the original BBC showing.
** BRIEF PLOT…
Del, (David Jason), is up to his scheming tricks again, involving the church and a lorry load of Romanian Riesling wine, but, as with many of Del’s get rich schemes, things don’t quite go according to plan.
Meanwhile, Rodney, (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Cassandra, (Gwyneth Strong) are still struggling with their marriage, with Cassandra concentrating more on her career than her relationship. So when Del hears that Rodney has come into some money he decides to try and help their marriage by booking a holiday for the young couple, much to Rodney’s delight. Although, with Cassandra unable to get time off work, the holiday isn’t quite what Rodney hoped for, especially as Del manages to tag along. But once at their destination things go from bad to worse, with the Trotters somehow becoming involved in criminal activities, involving a mistaken identity and a family of very dodgy people, even more dodgy the Del himself.
With Del and Rodney miles from home and in a bit of bother in Miami they are keen to get back to the safety of the streets of Peckham.
**IN CONCLUSION…
Utter brilliance and a joy to watch, even though it is over two hours long.
Sullivan and co. have really thought hard to bring such an hilarious episode to the screen, creating side splitting laughter right from the start.
It’s hard to describe this specific show without giving away the actual plot so I wont say too much about it, although I will say that who ever came up with this idea really was on the ball that day.
As usual, the show starts with one little scheme, normally thought out inside Del’s funny little mind, and this show is no different, with Del’s scheme being his best, or may be worst one yet. But as the episode flows nicely along. the story really does open up, taking the Trotter terror, and the viewers, to the lovely streets of Miami, although the streets aren’t so lovely once Del and Rodney land there. The second half of this special episode is when the action really kicks in, with some hilarious results… for me, watching Del in this show is like watching Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the Pink Panther saga, there shear lucky streak being so alike… in fact, think Peter Sellers meets Tubbs and Crocket in the sunshine and you’ll have the slapstick style of the show.
The acting is, without doubt, spectacular, with each character really giving their all. Jason is his usual scheming self, in this episode even his plan could feel the wrath of god himself. Tessa Peake-Jones has settled in well, playing her part as the ‘significant other’ to the little man with the red braces, who seems to follow trouble around where ever he goes, very well indeed. Lyndhurst and Strong continue to play there part as marriage struggling pair, with Lyndhurst really giving his all in this episode, especially once the filming goes to Miami.
But , as with most of the Only Fools episodes, the show wouldn’t be half a s funny if it wasn’t for the supporting cast and crew, including the usual Buster Merryfield as the old seadog, Uncle Albert. John Challis and Sue Holderness as Boycie and his dippy wife Marlene, who, fortunately for Del and Rodney, happen to be in the right place at the right time and the rest of the motley Nags Head regulars.
In this episode we are introduced to some unscrupulous characters in Miami, who are frighteningly and most excellently played by such people as Antoni Corone, Tom Kouchalakos, Dave Corey and Jay Amor… these guys are not the holiday reps you would want on your trip.
And watch out for the brief appearances by Richard Branson and Barry Gibb….
* DOWNSIDE…
This downside is not about the actual show itself but about the end editing as this episode was put onto DVD, it just seems to have been thrown onto the disc with some rather annoying ’canned laughter’ edited in, especially on the second half of the show, sometimes over powering the actual dialogue, spoiling some of the usual dry witted comments which Only Fools has mastered.
But, even with the bizarrely edited canned laughter, the double episode is still well worth watching and will have you laughing throughout.
This can be bought from www.amazon.co.uk for less than £7.00, and for over two hours of shear entertainment it is great value for money, although there are no extras on the DVD itself.

Miami never again! Review ofOnly Fools And Horses - Miami Twice (DVD)by

Advantages: Very funny and full of 'sod's law' Disadvantages: This film is too long!
...and Horses' series. There are only two I haven't seen and that's 'Rodney Come Home' and This is a good episode and full of laughs. The one major disadvantage is that it is over 2 hours long and they seem to stretch it out too far. They still manage to fill it up with laughs though!
This episode begins with the christening of Del and Raquels' baby Damien. Del manages to persuade the vicar after the christening to purchase a bulk order of wine to ... ...in it for him. The only problem is, that the wine does not represent the colour of christ's blood as it is white! However, Del has already gone off to Miami with Rodney, leaving Raquel to sort things out!
The trip to Miami actually takes place to Del's advantage. He convinces Rodney to purchase some tickets to Miami for him and Cassandra knowing fully well that Cassandra will be away with work. Rodney ends up with two tickets in the name of Trotter ...

...arguably the best espisode of Only Fools and Horses. Its hugely funny and is full of one liners which is always the case from the writer John Sullivan. This is the longest running programme of only fools, running for 128 minutes and there isn't a bad bit. It starts in peckham. Damien (dels son) is having a christening. Then in part two they go to america on holiday and it doesn't turn out well, not at all. As soon as they go over there they go to ... ...a lot of competition for Only Fools and Horses. But this is probably the best sitcom around along with Fawlty towers. Miami Twice is a long way better then most comedy show you see around and no sitcom has done as much programmes and has been as funny as this (execpt fawlty towers maybe). So if your looking for a sitcom this is the one for you Summurry

Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003)
It's so hard just to write a review on a single episode, be it a feature length film.
Miami Twice,
The title comes from "Miami Vice." John Sullivan (the legend behind it all) did this in a few other episodes too.
Miama Twice: Del and Raquel chrisen "the chavvy." (Micky Pearce babysits) Rodders (on Dels "brilliant" advice) gets tickets to miami, but when cassy cant go, he doesnt want to go. So Del "gives himself ... ...a must have for your only fools collection, or if it is going to be your first Only fools DVD, i guarrenttee it will not be your last.
Literally a laugh a minute, this stuff is funny and never seems to get old, no matter how many times you watch it. And believe me, i speak from experience!!
You might see this an me just "bigging up" only fools, but it is fantastic comedy of the highest quality. And although this episode was made in 1991, it is ...
