Now here is a program that shouldn't need an introduction. It's "Britain's favourite Comedy". In my opinion, this program wasn't during the Golden Era of television; it WAS the golden era of television. Every episode was an instant classic that either gave you a laugh a minute or made your eyes well up with tears, and sometimes both in that same minute. It was simply staggering.
The characters were brilliant, never a dull one. From Del boy himself all the way down to Mickey Pearce, all the characters are likeable, and for the most part, believable. Believable, but never predictable, there was always a surprise around the corner from someone, like a dodgy deal with Boyce etc.
Even subtle little things that people barely even notice are fantastic. For instance, the table and chairs in Del boys are constantly changing from episode to episode. Here is always a gag on screen, even during the sad moments. They even manage to bring humour into a miscarriage scene, in an innocent and cute way.
The fact that they compiled it into a complete collection only makes the deal sweeter. This box set is a joy to own. I happily place it in a well seen spot in my house, and that may sound sad, but people always seem to ask about it.
Of course it does have a minor downside. It has a rather high price. For a collection like this though it is be worth every penny. This is something that any self-respecting fan should not be without, it is the holy grail of comedy.
