in my opinion and the opinion of millions of others, there never has nor will there ever be a comedy series to rival only fools and horses. I personaly own every episode of these classics and watch them all on a regular basis without ever tireing of them.
The episodes contained in this brilliant 3 disc box set are as good as any they ever done, these were all christmas specials and are a bit harder to come by than the actual every day episodes, they are also longer than the half hour tv epeisodes that were most comonly shown.
disc 1, if they could see us now. ------------------------------------------------ in this episode the high life ends for the trotter family as the amarican markets have crashed, leaving them penniless once again. they have returned home to england to face bankrupcy, but things get even worse when del and rodney find out uncle albert has passed away. Despite everything though rodney is looking to the future and plans to spice up his and cassandras love life with some fantasy therapy, however the mood is well and truly spoiled when del boy catches thme dressed up like a pair of plonkers. Del meantime plans to revive the trotters fortune, he casts his eye over the oppertunities available and plumps for having a go at the newest tv game show, could this be the answer to the trotters problems?
written by john sullivan, this stars david jason as del boy and nicholas lyndhurts as rodney. with a guest appearence from jonathan ross as the game show host.
disc 2 strangers on the shore -------------------------------------------- this episode follows on from the last, since being declared bankrupt things havent been going well for del boy, hes been reduced back to a life of flogging such things as log-effect gas fires made in slovakia down the local market. still at least rodney and cassandra have something to smile about - they are expecting a baby. When the trotters get an invite to represent their uncle albert at a naval do in france del senses a way to turn round his recent run of bad fortune. Unbeknown to rodney ha has arranged with denzil the local lorry owner and driver to take a load of cheap booze back over to england to sell for a tidy profit, however they are in for a huge shock when they get home to find as well as the booze they have also bought home a stow away who doesnt speak a word of english. as they decide how to get rid of him without the wives finding out what they have been up to you will be doubled over in laughter.
written by john sullivan and starring david jason and nicholas lyndhurst.
disc 3 sleepless in peckham ------------------------------------------- true to form, the trotters have money worries yet again, the flat in nelson mandela house is due to be auctioned off by the official receivers in around a months time meaning the whole family including the now very heavily pregnant casandra will be homeless. Rodney comes up with the bright idea of writing a screenplay for a hollywood blockbuster but just as del told him it wouldnt it doesnt seem to be getting anywhere, but before too long del boy and rodneys minds are turned to other matters. As boycies wife marlene seems to have disappeared they start wondering if the long suffering boycie has had enough and buried her under the flower beds, or could it be theres a real mystery right under rodneys nose for him to base his hollywood screenplay on? Another episode of this fantastic series so crammed full of laughs you will ache by the time its finished.
although there are a few better episodes of this series to be had, these are without doubt up there with the best, fantastic writing and simply some of the best comic acting and delivery of one liners makes this series an absolutely brilliant watch.
if you are one of the very few people out there who havent seen any of this series then i would suggest watching some of the earlier ones first just to get the idea of all the trotters came through to reach this stage, however you can watch any of these episodes at any time and still enjoy them.
for those of you who have seen some of the earlier stuff but to whom these are new to, trust me they are a must watch. the antics of the trotter boys have never changed!
the main actors in these episodes are as follows. David Jason Nicholas Lyndhurst Gwyneth Strong Tessa Peake-Jones John Challis it was directed by; Tony Dow has a viewer rating of 12 and the total run time of all three discs is aprox 3 hours and 40 mins.
there are no extras on these discs but then none are required, these fantastic comedy episodes will have you reaching for them time and time again.
i recently introduced my fiancee to the series, being a few years younger than myself she had only seen a few episodes and was to young to enjoy them at the time. we are now laughing our way through the whole series from begining to end together, her enjoying these classics properly for the first time and me reliving all the laughs for the.......... well god knows how many time!
I have added this due to getting a few messages asking where people can get their hands on this set, i do know that many asda stores had this set for a while it is also available from amazon on line i believe however if you cant get this as a set these titles ara available seperately as are all the others in the series!!

Advantages: funny Disadvantages: none
Only fools and horses is by far one of the best comedys around it all started with the main character del boy/derek trotter (Davis jason)and his 1 and only plonker of a brother rodney trotter (nicholas lindhurst).
It all started in the nelson mandella house in peckham were delboy always wanted to be a millionair but could never make del boy and his plonker of a brother rodney work at the local market selling dodgey gear to helpless people but when ...
