I'm gonna start by saying that, although this may be marketed mostly at teenagers, this is a programme that anyone can enjoy! I bought this box set for a tenner 2 weeks ago on Amaon and from the first episode I was hooked.
The Characters- Lucas Scott is a street basketball player whose father, Dan Scott, left his mother, Karen Roe, to go to college before he was born. It was there he met Deb Scott and got her pregnant. Their son, Nathan, is the star of Tree Hill Ravens, the school basketball team. His uncle, Keith, stood by Karen and helped raise Lucas. Nathan's girlfriend, Peyton Sawyer is a cheerleader for the Ravens and best friends with Brooke Davis. Haley James is Lucas' best friend. It doesn't seem quite so complicated when you watch it.
The Cast- The actors are very well chosen and give great performances throughout. Chad Michael Murray plays the brooding outcast brilliantly and believably. Dan Scott- Paul Johansson Karen Roe- Moira Kelly Nathan Scott- James Lafferty Peyton Sawyer- Hilarie Burton Brooke Davis- Sophia Bush Haley James- Bethany Joy Lenz
The Music- One Tree Hill relies heavily on music to set the scene. What really works is the variety of music they use. From well-known bands such as Snow Patrol to the underground acts that producer Mark Schwahn is a huge fan of, there's something for everyone!
The Series-
With so many characters comes a lot of storylines. Most people can probably relate to at least one, which always helps when deciding if you like a show. There are twists and turns throughout, from Dan and Lucas' relationship to that of Keith and Karen. At times it is funny, others particularly emotional. Watching the characters grow is very engaging and entertaining.
Extras-
This box set includes additional scenes not shown on TV, commentaries by the cast and crew and behind-the-scenes footage.
I would recommend this to anyone, at least to watch the pilot. There are 22 episodes, each around 43 mins long. Well worth a tenner!
