One Tree Hill - Absolutely brilliant! Season 2 has just finished. It was shown on E4 every Thursday at 9pm, and then again on E4+1 straight after. It was also repeated on a Sunday at 7pm.

I don't generally get into the teenage shows like The OC, Dawsons Creek etc, but I couldn't stop watching One Tree Hill. You will love this if you like Chad Michael Murray or teenage dramas.

WHAT DOES THE BOX SET CONTAIN?

The Season1 box set of One Tree Hill contains 6 discs, with all 22 episodes. The special features are shared throughout the discs with some having more than others. You can buy this in HMV for £34.99 but I think you may find it cheaper online or ebay for around £25 - £30.

BASIC OUTLINE OF THE STORY

Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) are half brothers who share the same dad. Their lives are very different and they can't stand the sight of each other. Nathan is the popular one. He's the star of the high school basketball team, he's really popular and lives with both his parents.

The coach finds out that Lucas is also very good at basketball, and when he puts Lucas on the team Nathan is not happy. The story is about how the two boys deal with being brought together and how things change when their lives begin to intertwine.

THE CHARACTERS

The two lead roles have been well cast. Although relatively unknown, Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty play their parts brilliantly, and aren't too harsh on the eye either. Although this is probably aimed at girls, they have thrown in a few good looking girls (Brooke, Peyton and Hayley) to appeal to the lads out there.

The characters all have very different personalities and the chances are you will be able to relate to them in some way, or look back and say yeah I was a bit like that.

Nathan is arrogant and uncaring in the beginning of the series though his character changes considerable as the episodes progress. I don't want to give too much of the story away, but he falls in love with a girl, who at first he is ashamed to be seen with, but he finally comes round and his character softens and becomes much more likeable

Lucas is the down to earth, book reading 'geek' who was abandoned by his father. He has friends but isn't one of the 'cool' kids. He is best friends with Hayley and doesn't care about being popular. Lucas and Nathan seem to switch roles half way through but Lucas manages to pull himself together.

Brooke and Peyton are Cheerleaders for the Basketball team and have been best friends since they were little. Nathan and Peyton start the season dating but things soon change. Peyton is a brilliant artist, and has a lot of attitude. Her mother died when she was young and her father spends a lot of time working away from home. Deep down she just wants to be loved. Brooke brings fun to the show. She loves shopping and being carefree. She comes across as a bit dizzy but she has a good heart.

Now it isn't just the lives of the teenages that we follow. There is a strong adult cast too. The parents lives are just as complicated as their childrens!

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH IT

We see love, hatred, friendships, relationships, fights, betrayal and lots of complications, from the parents as well as the teenagers! You can really understand what the characters are going through. It is enjoyable to watch the relationships developing with lots of dramas along the way.

THE SPECIAL FEATURES

The Special Features include 48 minutes of unaired scenes, Building a Winning Team: The Making of One Tree Hill, 3 On the Set Featurettes, 4 Cast/Crew Commentaries, Oh Chariot:Exclusive Gavin DeGraw Performance and Christmas Elf Gag.

After watching a few episodes of this show you will be hooked. It is great to have special features so you can continue to watch parts of the show even after the season has finished. The executive producers talk about the show, which is really interesting to watch if you loved the programme. The cast also appear on the special features which is nice to see them out of character.

The music is a really important aspect of the show and one of the reasons that makes it so brilliant. Gavin DeGraw wasn't having much success until his song was chosen for the theme tune. His gravelly sound is really good and you can see him singing Oh Chariot on the special features.

The special features are really good compared to some I've seen. The only bad point about them is they are spread across all the discs. It would have been easier for the viewer if they were all on the same one.

Basketball is what brings Lucas and Nathan together and starts off as the focal point of the programme, but you don't have to like the game to enjoy One Tree Hill. Overall a brilliant DVD and definitely one to watch!

The review was really helpful. Ive considered maybe getting the box-set off ebay as i enjoy watching dramas like "The O.C" etc. A friend reccomended this to me, and i was just looking for another opinion. Thanks, Jayne x

Nice Review mate. OTH is my favorite show at the moment along with a couple of others. I fully agree that basketball is what brought them together. However, there were other factors i must say! Dan brought them together! ;)

I absolutely love this show - just rented the second series out on DVD - although i'm not sure I should admit that, being a guy an all. :D
