McMurphy (Nicholson) a free-spirited con with lightning in his veins and glib on his tongue fakes insanity and moves in with what he calls the “nuts”. Immediately his contagious sense of disorder runs up against numbing routine. No way should guys pickled on sedatives shuffled around in bathrobes when the World Series is on. This means war! On one side is McMurphy. On the other is soft-spoken Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) among the most coldly monstrous villains in film history. At stake is the fate of every patient on the ward.

Advantages: A classic film, beautifully acted Disadvantages: A little slow moving at times

I found this bonus feature a good addition to the film. I did find that it went on a bit too long though and lost interest. That said though some aspects are fascinating despite it being a little slow. 3. Eight additional scenes

Overall I would say it is a very good film and the extras which come with the special edition are worth watching and are great value for money (£5.97 from Amazon). The 133 min film and over an hour of extras are great for first time viewers and original lovers of the film who would like to see the extras. I would definitely recommend this film. ...

Advantages: Jack Nicholson at his most iconic Disadvantages: Nurse Ratched is a big meanie! Boooo!
..., although sad in parts. It is funny, emotional and the characters and performances are endearing. It is a film that you'll want to see over and over. The special features - if you can remember the interesting facts - are well worth spending time on, and they make future viewings of the film even better.

R.P. McMurphy, a misbehaving con who shirks authority, finds himself in an asylum after faking insanity to get out of work detail in prison. Once in, the vivacious troublemaker finds out he's in a worse kind of prison--one presided over by the repressed, terrifyingly quiet Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), whose taught set of rules and regulations are meant to suppress patients' psychotic outbursts, and their spirits. It's not long before McMurphy is reaching out to his new inmates, trying desperately to bring life to an otherwise dead atmosphere. He becomes the organizer of card games, tries to teach a huge Cree Indian, Chief Bromden (Will Sampson), to shoot baskets, and, when his efforts to allow the patients to see the World Series are thwarted, he mimics the game for his new friends. To Ratched, however, Nicholson's free spirit is as dangerous as a schizophrenic impulse. A disturbing, witty, and electrifying drama, and winner of the Best Picture Oscar, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST is brilliantly acted by an ensemble that includes several future stars such as Christopher Lloyd and Danny DeVito.
