Action & Adventure - Director: Robert Rodriguez, Jonathan Hensleigh - Original Language: English - Classification: 18 years and over - Starring:Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke, Thomas Jane, John Travolta, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
Advantages: Three Great Films One Great Boxset Disadvantages: Pictures on actual DVD discs are same as if bought separatly
...El Mariachi
While this is a budget film, one of director Robert Rodriguez's first, this is still a great movie. The whole film is in spanish with English subtitles and many more languages. This film is great for people interested in becoming a director with the director's commentary and 10 minute film school all as special features.
Desperado - Collector's Edition
This DVD is great for as the title may indicate collectors. This DVD is also packed with lots of special features such as Director commentary and "10 more minutes - Anatomy of a shootout".
OnceUpon A Time In Mexico
While this film isn't as good as the above two it is also a great DVD for special features with Dierctor's commentar again and 8 deleted scenes and 4 Featurettes.
All in all a very good boxset and brilliant value for money for 3 DVDs as i bought mine for £19.99...

Advantages: Brilliant action and set pieces. Johnny Depp is fabulous as ever Disadvantages: What the hell's going on and who are all these people?
...OnceUpon a Time in Mexico is a sprawling, notably plot-free excuse for a movie but it's fantastic!
Rodriguez is back from Spy Kids to continue his fabulous Mariarchi trilogy with Antonio Banderas smouldering as only he can in the lead role.
Although not exactly highbrow this film bosts wonderful action sequences plus plenty of brooding Banderas and Salma Hayek on full form (if only in a slightly limited capacity as she only appears in flashback)
No review of this film would be complete though without a mention of the fabulous Johnny Depp. In another quirky, crazy yet utterly mesmerising performance he steals every scene and his iconic mutilated appearance in the film's finlae presents one of the most bizarely sexy moments of the year.
An absolute must for fans of the trilogy but anyone not having seen the previous films need not fear...

Advantages: Great ending to an inventive Trilogy, excellent action scenes and some brilliant dialogue Disadvantages: Ideally need to have seen the other 2 movies in the series AND know a bit of background before you can 'get' the plot.
...The third film in Robert Rodriguez' Mariachi series, OnceUpon a Time in Mexico does nothing to disappoint hardened fans- the action's still there, as is the quick witted and only slightly cheesy dialogue, and it is all only improved by the use of digital recording and editing techniques.
For the non- established fans of El, there's Salma Hayek and Eva Mendes for the guys, whilst Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp are around to keep the girls happy.
Apart from the eye-candy, there's Rodriguez's inventive and original camera and effects work which brings the audience into the film, and of course, there are the always-crowd-pleasing guns and explosions.
My one complaint would be that the plot doesn't work quite so well if you haven't seen the film's two predecessors, but who needs a plot when you've got Salma and Antonio?
Johnny Depp adds...
