DVD Description
Three episodes from the classic BBC comedy series; 'The Inspector's Niece', 'The Lodger', and 'Stan's Worst Day'. This double-decker Britcom classic stars Reg Varney, Bob Grant, and Stephen Lewis. London bus driver Stan Butler (Varney) and his conductor, Jack Harper (Grant), go about the working week to make a living, but the overbearing Inspector Blake (Lewis) is always there to trouble the boys.
Advantages: Fantastic episode scripting Disadvantages: Some episodes in black and white
...On the Buses is a classic situational comedy that ran for seven series between the years of 1969 and 1973. Despite its age it simply has to be my favourite ever comedy and is something I can watch over and over again.
On the Buses follows the day-to-day antics of lecherous lay-about Stan Butler, a bus driver at the local depot, and his equally lazy and lecherous best friend and conductor Jack Harper. Together the pair will do near enough anything to avoid doing work. The bus company's Inspector however has other ideas and is constantly reminding them to 'Get that bus out'. Somehow though the Inspector is the least of Stan's worries because when he gets home he knows all too well that his overbearing mother will be there for him to deal with and that's before he has to cope with his sister Olive and her tight-fisted husband Arthur...

Advantages: Splendid return to form for Hitchcock Disadvantages: Occasionally feels like a film out of step with the 70's
...is at his best when Rusk is at his worst and gives a chilling account of a man completely out of control. Anna Massey contributes by making Babs one of the few likeable leads in 'Frenzy', and further down the cast list you will spot the likes of Billie Whitelaw, Clive Swift, Jean Marsh, Bernard Cribbings and Barbara Leigh-Hunt. Special mention though to Alec McCowen as long suffering Det. Inspector Oxford, head of the murder enquiry. The films only light touches come courtesy of Oxford and his musings on the case to his endearingly dotty wife. She is attending haute cuisine night classes, and at the end of each gruelling day of investigation he must endure further horrors at the hands of his wifes cooking.
Shot in a realistic fashion, with little gloss, and making use of Syd Cains (veteran of many Bond outings) functional interiors...

...I was expecting a bad film but you know what. I enjoyed it. I actually liked the movie. It's definitely not below average.
Matthew Broderick is actually a good Inspector Gadget. I think with the way movies are, many people tend to want to see a different Inspector Gadget, perhaps someone more violent. Well, if that's the case...there is the Criterion edition of Robocop with the added gory scenes that you can buy. This movie was made for kids as was the cartoon and I'm a kid at heart because I grew up with the show.
One of the things you'll notice is that it's a Disney DVD with extra's. Yes, it's a miracle isn't it. The majority of all Disney DVD's don't have squat in them. This one has a 30 minute featurette on "Go Inside Inspector Gadget". It also has a music video from Youngstown and the trailer. Not bad...
