Ocean's Twelve
Danny and his gang are back and this time the heist is bigger than ever. Ocean's Twelve follows on from the Ocean's Elven movie. Ocean's Twelve was released in 2004 and follows the same format as the other movie. It's a heist caper with lots of comedy thrown in. The ensemble cast is full of celebrity and I think they work well together.
Like I said Ocean's Twelve follows on from Ocean's Eleven. Danny Ocean and his guys previously were able to steal $160 million dollars from three casinos in Las Vegas. However, the owner of the casino's, Terry Benedict played by Andy Garcia, knows it's them and he wants his money back. He manages to get to each one of them and threaten them with paying the money back within two weeks, including interest!! Well, what do you do when you have just stolen $160 million dollars, you spend it of course, lavishly and now the gang are short by about half. So, what do you do when you need to pay back some money to basically save your life, you conduct another heist of course.
This heist takes them to foreign lands and I really enjoyed the change of scenery. The film movie to Europe and they show some gorgeous places, like Amsterdam, Paris and Rome as well as Lake Como in Italy which is just beautiful. I assume this was partly used because George Clooney who plays Danny Ocean has a house in Lake Como and you can just imagine him spending time here in real life.
This time the gang are followed by a Europol Detective called Isabel Lahiri. It helps that she's beautiful and can infiltrate the gang in her own special way. Isabel is played by Catherine Zeta Jones. I thought she did a good job. She kind of played the same part she seems to in all her other movies when she plays a femme fatal type of role but it was good.
I liked this movie because there are two elements to the story, the person they are trying to pay off and the person they are trying to steal from and juggling the two made the story really quite interesting and different from the first movie. I have to say though that I probably preferred the first movie as it was something different and new and this is a sequel and we had been introduced to the gang before.
The cast is still great including like I've said above George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts to name but a few. The DVD is rated PG 13 for language and lasts for approximately 125 minutes.
