The film's main stars are Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean, Dean Martin as Sam, Peter Lawford as Jimmy. Sammy Davis Jr as Josh and Angie Dickinson as Danny's fed up wife.
The film is largely a product of its time - sexist in places and even hints of racism in the film's main jokes. However, despite these jokes (however dodgy) it's generally actually quite dour for a "hiest" movie. There's no sense of fun, but then should there be in a film about a pretty serious crime? The only fun is in the twist, which I'm not about to give away.
Sinatra plays Danny quite seriously but Sammy Davis plays the part of get-away driver Josh with a sense of humour. Dean Martin of course, gets to sing "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" but I feel that the songs and even the whole film suit no purpose other than to showcase the performers. They may as well be playing themselves, I felt, apart from the great Cesar Romero who is good as the step father of one of the gang members.
This film is good for nostalic purposes perhaps but it's very long at just over 2 hours. It also takes a while to figure out just how these men know each other.
The video costs £7 and the DVD is about the same price on Amazon. The DVD contains many features including a commentary by Sinatra and Dickinson themselves.
Advantages: Fabulous cast, funny, interesting plot Disadvantages: Not really original and the sequel was a bit of a let down
...at one point!!! Ocean's eleven was a fantastic film containing every element a good film should. Eye candy for the ladies, eye candy for the gents, romance, comedy, quit wit, bad V good and a consistent plot. George Clooney plays bad boy Danny who plans to enter the world's most secure vault in order to steal millions from Casino owning Terry Bennedict who stole Danny's wife. He creates a gang including a retired thief, poker expert/card dealer, ... ...list goes on!
I found ocean's twelve a bit of a disappointment after how fantastic ocean's eleven was. The same great cast but I felt it was a little more disjointed compared to the seamless writing of eleven. It also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones with a rather dodgy accent! Here, Ocean's original eleven have been tracked down by Furious Terry Benedict and are forced to flee America and carry out three heists across Europe to attempt to pay back ...

Oceans 11 and 12 are both excellent remakes of classic flims. Both films are about classic heists with George Clooney and Brad Pitt as the 'Good' Crooks and Andy Garcia as the 'Bad' Crook. Catherine Zeta Jones and Julia Roberts are great and their characters develop across the films. The set piece in Oceans 12 where Julia Roberts plays her character pretending to be Julia Roberts is brilliant. Whilst I thought they were great individually at the ...

Advantages: Two great films in one Disadvantages: You can't just watch one!
...the sequel before I saw Ocean's 11. At the cinema on the first night it was out, enjoying a film with friends. I don't usually like the same films as my friends, but we all liked this one!
Of course, I wanted to see the first one, but the opportunity didn't arise straight away. Then a friend brought it, and straight away I went round to watch it, and it was even better than the second one, if that's possible.
Now I own both, of course, and watch ...
