I only started watching this show when it was midway it's third series. For me this was great because it meant I didn't have to wait for new episodes I could just go online and buy the first two series.
*****Cast*****
Lee Mack.....Lee Tim Vine.....Tim Megan Dodds.....Kate Miranda Hart....Barbara
*****Plot*****
The shows revolves around Lee and is mainly set in the apartment which he lives with his landlady Kate and in a bar with his best mate Tim. Lee is a layabout, who is quite happy with his life however Kate is more enclined to get him a job than let him laze around the flat.
*****Opinion on Chararacters*****
Lee - Played brilliantly by Lee Mack, the delivery of jokes is a bit like in a stand-up routine in which Lee Mack is commonly recognised, but it works perfectly in this show. With very little acting experince Lee Mack comes through this with flying colours.
Tim - I wasn't too familiar with Tim vine before this show, but wouldn't hesitate to watch one of his stand-up shows if I ever had the chance. Just like Lee he fits his role perfectly as someone who sees themself as superior (to Lee, anyway), but also slighlty insecure and paranoid.
Kate - Having first watched this show in its third series when the leading female role is played by Sally Bretton as Lucy, I was a little worried that I wouldn't like the character of Kate. However, I have came to enjoy the episodes involving kate just as much as the newer one with Lucy, so this alone shows what a good job Megan Dodds has done in this role.
Barbara - Isn't in the first series very much, but there's always something to laugh about when she does appear. Miranda hart plays the dosy Barbara excellently.
*****Opinion on The Show*****
This is easily one of the best comedy shows to come out of Britain. Along with "The Inbetweeners" I would rate it as the number one British comedy show. The delivery of jokes is brilliant and every episode is of a high quality, with high quality jokes coming thick and fast througout each and every episode. There is good variety in the jokes, but also a running joke about Tim cheating on kate with a younger woman.
The storyline are all well written and played out in good locations. One thing I like is that the storyline from one episode doesn't really run onto the next one too much, which I think is good.
*****Opinion on The DVD*****
The actual case that the DVD comes in seems very cheap. I f I had bought it from Ebay I would seriously thought that it was a pirated copy. A plain black case with the 'Not Going Out' cover put on the front and nothing other than the disc inside the case.
The other downside to the Dvd itself is the menu. Navigating through episodses and episode chapters is quite confusing at the start, but I eventually seen what was happening.

I love Lee mack's stand-up, he's a natural. But I find this show really contrived with set-up jokes. Plus Tim Vine is a terrible comedian, just puns every joke. I know you said you wanted to see his stand up... I have =(
