About the movie:No retreat no surrender is a martial arts movie directed by Corey Yuen. This movie is also known as Karate Tiger.
Plot:Jason StillwellUKurt Mckinney) is a young Karate student who trains in his father's Los Angeles dojo. One night after training has finished, the dojo is visited by members of an organised crime syndicate. Jason's father is attacked and has his leg broken by Ivan Krushensky(Jean Claude Van Damme), the hired thug of the boss. The family moves to start a new life in Seattle. Jason has a hard time adjusting and is picked on by the local bullies. One night after being beaten, he is visited by the ghost of Bruce Lee. After being trained by the ghost, Jason goes from a below average fighter to near invincibility. Local fighters organise a fight in an arena between themselves and fighters from the crime syndicate, setting the scene for Jason to meet up with Ivan and settle the score once and for all.
My opinion: Though the storyline of the movie is not strong but I would like to give credit to the action director. The fight scenes are excellent and realistic. No strings were used as we can see nowadys in most movies . Jean Claude as Ivan is good as his character has no dialogue throughout movie.Just a sentence he utters at the last action scene "I am the best".This was my second movie where I saw Jean Claude doing a negative role. The first one was "Black Eagle".Jason Stillwell is a good fighter. He is the main character in the movie and I think his performance is good enough for a martial arts movie.
I recommend this movie and if you like martial arts movies then its worth watch.
