No Reservations is an American Romantic Drama film starring Catherine Zeta Jones. The film was released in the United Kingdom on August 21st 2007. Running time of this movie is one hundred and four minutes. This movie is a PG.
Kate is a ‘top’ chef. She is extremely dedicated to her job and even goes out of her way in her ‘off duty’ time , to improve her performance in the kitchen. She is a star at the restaurant she works at ; everyone praises her excellent talent. However , what will happen when her sister dies and so her niece goes to live with her ? There’s a new chef too ; what will he be like ? Watch No Reservations to find out.
First of all , I didn’t know until after I had seen this movie , is that this movie is based slightly on a German film called Mostly Martha. I myself , hadn’t heard of that movie until now , and havn’t seen it either , although I though I’d mention it in case some of you have seen it and enjoyed the film, unaware that this is a sort of remake of it.
I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones’ performance as workaholic chef Kate, was perfect. She did an excellent job of portraying the character of Kate. Whilst watching this , I honestly saw Zeta-Jones as an over-worked chef and not the glamorous actress that she is. She made the role believable. I felt sorry for Kate when ‘the new’ chef comes along , as she works so hard. Although , having said that , I could not honestly believe that Kate’s character was single and lonely. With Zeta’s looks , surely there must be some kind of mistake ?!
With previous experience in working at a top restaurant (both in and out of the kitchen) , I found it interesting to see how ‘other kitchen’s work’ and because of this , found the movie a joy to watch.
Although there are some ‘dark’ scenes at the beginning , I couldn’t help but think , what a delightful film. The kitchen is so colourful and welcoming , that I would love to work at that restaurant. It is nice to see a movie about something real to life which people can relate to , unlike a lot of ‘Hollywood’ movies.
Whilst watching this movie , I didn’t know where I was at. One minute I was laughing hysterically at some of the jokes , other times I was sad because the characters were crying , then I was happy because the kitchen looked like such a fun place to work , and then I was depressed because Kate’s sister died in a car crash.
If you like romantic dramas then you’ll like this movie. It’s a bit different , but I certainly enjoyed it!
Thanks for reading!
