...I was one of those lucky few who was there on the day. The day that music changed the world something that has continued ever since but has never been achieved up to this standard. I have been to many many live gigs but this one comes right at the top, I can still remember the shivers down my spine as I felt the excitement from crowds and performers alike so, when the concert was released on DVD I decided to purchase it. All proceeds from this dvd goes to the Band Aid trust to continue their help in feeding the world. The 4 disc DVD is beautifully presented in a fold out cover which slips into a protective box., It contains an informative booklet giving information and glossy colour photographs from that day.. ...If you only buy one Nina Simone album then this is the one to buy. As the title of the album states this is 'The Very Best of Nina Simone' and it has been compiled beautifully. Before I bought the album I only knew one of her songs and yet as the album played out on my dvd player I found myself realising that I didn\'t know she had sung half the songs and that I had heard these on various films and on television advertisements. ...similar to that but without the visual part of the stories and the sweating! His laugh is also infectious, he laughs at his own stories and you cant help but laugh along with him The dvd itself is pretty basic, only his Live at the apollo performance as an extra. Theres a brief opening scene of him being posh and chauffered around but apart from that, thats it. To be honest though you dont need anymore than that, the event itself is outstanding. Very little audience participation which is his way of doing things, he has stories to tell, theyre funny, you laugh and then he goes. Simple but effective! Some of my favourite stories include going into a buffet waiting to be seated then immediately getting up and going back the way you came in to get to the buffet!
