Night Watch/Alien Vs Predator/Resident Evil (Box Set)

Advantages: It has Aliens and Predators and Lance Henrikson
Disadvantages: Obvious plot. Weak characters

...Alien Vs Predator (2004) Paul WS Anderson has been directing for a decade now, and has dished up a very mixed bag of films in that time. He often chooses good projects to work on and showed great potential after Event Horizon (1997), certainly his best film. Even Mortal Kombat (1995) was an enjoyable romp and still one of the best video game adaptations to date in my mind. But it seems recently he has lost his way. Resident Evil (2002) was a rather limp and obvious adaptation of the material thus hindering his scripting of Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse (2004). These two films should have been classics of the horror genre. Now we have been dealt up another tantalising blockbuster in the form of Alien Vs Predator. Advantages: great, fun movie, excellent C.G effects and loads of extras!!!!!
Disadvantages: a little tame on the gore and violence factor compared to the previous films!

Advantages: Great for previous alien or predator fans

...This is my opinion of Alien Versus Predator! I have to say, that as I'm not a fan of either Alien or Predator in the previous films, I wasn't really looking forward to this one, and so I went to see it. After seeing the director's (Paul W.S. Anderson) other films, eg Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil, I didn't expect much, and I wasn't surprised with the weakness of the film. I'm sorry to all you fan's! The basic storyline (and basic it is) is that this firm has a satalite in the sky, and it detects massive heat from a source on a remote Antartic island, 2000 feet below the surface. Of course there's a mad rush to get there first, and so the wealthy philanthropist gathers the best there is, from a tour guide, to a drilling company, to drill to the structure beneath the ice.
