Male, British, ex-RAF. Is anyone else experiencing REALLY bad lag in the review text box at the moment? Its so bad I have stopped writing & editing reviews completely. Can't Ciao fix this?

Ben Stiller makes this film hard to watch, I find him unfunny at the best of times and he's close to his worst here. Stiller plays a deadbeat dad who gets a job as a night-watchman at a Museum where things come alive at night.
And once you've seen that happen once, you've seen the whole film. Honestly. You'd think it was something they'd be able to make a lot out of but I was disappointed at how badly they used the idea. If it's supposed to be a comedy it simply is not funny. The drama element is so pathetic it's unreal.
The supporting cast includes Mickey Rooney (who is painful to watch but still sadly underused), Dick Van Dyke (who is totally unbelievable as a crook, sorry), Owen Wilson (rubbish in his role), Steve Coogan (wasted in his role, could have done a LOT more) and Ricky Gervais (not funny in this or anything else ever). I was rather surprised to find Rooney & Van Dyke still working in movies but neither of them do very much in the movie.
The plot is painfully thin, Robin Williams (playing one of the exhibits that come to life) is totally wasted in the movie and they could have done so much more with the exhibits coming alive, what little plot there is (the robbery) is so predictable as to make watching the movie kind of pointless unless you want to see how right you were in your guesses. Personally I hated it.
