museum - the Smithsonian Institution. Museum guard-turned entrepreneur Larry Daly discovers that his favorite exhibits, and some of his best friends, from New York's Natural History Museum are being shipped off to the archives at the Smithsonian. Larry gets a distress call from the miniature cowboy, Jedediah, reporting that Egyptian ruler Kahmunrah and a trio of heinous henchmen - namely Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon and Al Capone - are plotting to take over the museum, then the world. Speeding to the nation's capitol, Larry is clearly in over his head. But with some impressive new pals, including the irrepressible Amelia Earhart, along with familiar friends Teddy Roosevelt and Octavius, Larry will stop at nothing to restore the Smithsonian before dawn.

expected its soundtrack to reflect a bit more varied influences. Of the handful of exceptions, "The Iron Horse" has flashes reminiscent of Western music, while "Caveman on Fire" strives to evoke golden-age cartoon mayhem--though like most tracks, it ends before anything can really develop. Indeed, the bulk of the soundtrack is made up of short cues (most lasting around a minute), and they would need more zip than they have to make an impact at that length. Alan Silvestri is no Danny Elfman, (who can usually be counted on to inject a few surprising elements into the most mainstream of scores). Here, the Hollywood Studio Symphony huffs and puffs, but little levity transpires. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Advantages: A fantastic way to watch a true classic Disadvantages: Only one extra, would have been nice to see more
Night of the Living Dead is the daddy of all zombie movies. Yes there may have been films that featured zombies before this but none came close to creating the same world that George A. Romero managed to. A film that manages to truly define the genre and has been imitated ever since.
Now for many years you've probably seen countless releases of NOTLD on every format. And apart from the Elite LD and DVD release, many of them have been sub-par being sourced from old video masters and sometimes even missing footage (for example the DVD release by Contender). So thankfully Optimum has decided that this classic film is worthy of a proper blu-ray edition.
For a low budget, black and white film from the Sixties, this transfer is fantastic. It's very similar to the old Elite DVD but with more detail and better contrast. There is a lot ...

Released in Late 2006 this comedy, (I believe is based on a 1993 novel by Milan Trenc), revolved around a Museum and its mystical effects on a night watchman.

good and evil, but with cutting edge special effects and action scenes galore this is a great film to watch.
The blu-ray version i watched was a 2 disc set with the second disc full of extras. There was a section on the history of transformers, and interviews with executive producers Steven Spielberg and Brian Goldner, writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, and director Michael Bay. There were also features on the animation used and the way they worked out where to do scenes. You also get a look at the military equipment seen and used in the film.
This additional information is something you do not want to skip over, because it gives you a much deeper understanding of how much planning and work went into the final production. If you are into cutting edge special effects and head banging action then beg, borrow, rent, or if that fails buy ...

Ben Stiller plays Larry Daley, a down-on-his-luck divorced father in this family-friendly tale directed by Shawn Levy (JUST MARRIED, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN). Larry has lots of ideas and dreams, but none of them come to fruition. In an attempt to prove his stability to his ex-wife (Kim Raver) and his son, Nicky (Jake Cherry), Larry accepts a job as a night guard at the Museum of Natural History. But the elderly night guards who hire him (played by entertainment legends Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke, and Bill Cobbs) fail to mention one crucial detail: when the museum is closed, everything inside comes to life. From Attila the Hun to miniature Roman soldiers, African mammals to Neanderthal men, and Egyptian mummies to dinosaur skeletons, the museum teems with lively activity. Now it’s Larry’s job to control the mayhem and show his son that he is, indeed, a great man after all. There might be a moral to this story, which is based on the book of the same name by Milan Trenc, but the screenplay and action remain light and breezy. Stiller is perfect as Larry, particularly in scenes with a sneaky monkey who repeatedly gets the better of him. Brief appearances by Anne Meara (Stiller’s real-life mother) and Paul Rudd add to the fun. Carla Gugino plays a museum docent, Ricky Gervais portrays the incomprehensible museum director, and Robin Williams moonlights as a wax figure of Teddy Roosevelt that comes to life. Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan are particularly amusing as a bickering miniature cowboy and a Roman soldier.
