Night and Fog, the film has a group of former student revolutionaries who meet again years later at the wedding of one of their classmates. Old feelings, rivalaries and grudges gradually erupt to the surface as the one-time friends recall the various treacheries by which their cause was defeated. Cutting between times pas and the present and unfolding the action from each of his characters viewpoints, Oshima creates an abstract and yet engrossing study of passions past and principles eroded.

disillusionment with the revolutionary student movement of the 1950's and the failure of political radicalism. Taking it's title (as a reference or homage) from Alain Resnais' pivotal 1956 documentary Night and Fog the film has a group of former student revolutionaries who meet again years later at the wedding of one of their classmates. Controversial upon release - the film's producers pulled the film from distribution after only a few days in cinemas - Night & Fog in Japan retains both its power to shock and its ability to engage the viewer in it's radical form and themes.

Advantages: Selma Blair is the ONLY good thing about this movie Disadvantages: I don't know if i can fit them all in here
The original of 'The Fog' was released back in 1980 and it was genuinely terrifying, still is to this day. When the remake was announced i was actually looking forward to it because i believed that even though the original was a good movie, it could have been improved on. Was it? No. Was there a point to remaking this movie if this is what they had planned. No. Is there anything they did right? Yes, they hired Selma Blair who plays 'Stevie Wayne' (who Adrienne Barbeau played in the original) who is the only person that keeps this movie alive throughout its drudging storyline. These European Directors are really beginning to annoy me!

Review
Not a documentary, or an indictment, or a poem, but a meditation on the most important phenomenon of the twentieth century ... for a few hours, Nuit et brouillard wipes out the memory of all other films. It absolutely must be seen. (Francois Truffaut, )
Should not be confined to specialist distribution: the evidence it bears should be brought to the public of the world. (Sight And Sound, )
