Plot: NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, certainly one of the most popular and arguably one of the best Anime ever produced, is the rare sci-fi series that actually follows through on the ambitious themes and ideas it presents. The series is set in the year 2015, fifteen years after what was supposedly a meteorite struck Antarctica. Wiping out half the population of the Earth, the meteorite left the rest to contend with rising sea levels, and queries over exactly what happened. Chief among the mysteries is the arrival of the Angels, an alien race who are possibly responsible for the subsequent attacks on Tokyo. Humanity's only hope for survival is the powerful humanoid warrior Evangelion, created by the NERV organisation and piloted by a group of genius teenagers.

Advantages: gives you frame of reference Disadvantages: very long
...I believe NeonGenesisEvangelion to be one of the finest pieces of film/animation ever created... The quality of animation is outstanding, perfectly portraying the moods and emotions of chracters and events. The soundtrack to 'Death and Rebirth' the synopsised version of the series is trully outstanding, a perfect compilation of Bach, beethoven and many others. The film covers many issues, mainly the search for existance, the quest to understand why one feels so alone. At least, thats what i feel. But it is not a depressing piece of work. Far from it, the end left me feeling (slightly perplexed) but.. at ease.
This film has so man best bits, not for the faint-hearted, as you will uncover more and more of the complex story every time you watch it. But it's worth it. This story is... beautiful....

...Well about the story, at first glances it just looks like a normal anime show with giant robots and monsters, this may be the case AT FIRST but it dramastically changes throught the show with great character development and story line. It however becomes confusing as it gets quite complex with relation to religion. It leaves you quite confused but a movie which was brought out called "end of evangelion" ties up a few knots.
This is a limited edition boxset in unique packaging that contains all 26 episodes and includes the Directors' Cut episodes. These arent a remaster, but a revised and re-edited special edition produced under the careful supervision of its creators, Gainax.
This is the only version of the EVA Perfect Collection to include the directors' cut episodes outside of Japan, thus a very great boxset!...

Advantages: Excellent and popular anime, nicely designed, gives material to think on. Disadvantages: Can be ridiculous sometimes.
...NeonGenesisEvangelion had been the last decade's cult anime in Japan, and became quickly so in the rest of the world. Produced by Gainax (Gunbuster), it is formed by what seems to be the winning anime combination: 26 chapters of 25 minutes each.
The story is set in the near future, in year 2015, in Japan. It begins with the whole of the army forces of the UN getting ready to meet a deadly ennemy, a strange, huge humanoid shape that has appeared near the city. The giant, not even feeling the rain of missiles and napalm falling on it, advances towards an unseen goal. When the thing survives the most destructive nuclear weapon of the UN's arsenal, a NM warhead that utterly annihilated the surrounding zone, there's no more doubt: it's a supranatural being, an Angel.
The plot is (at last at first) based on the confrontation...
