Advantages: Brilliant Story, Acting, Visuals, Audio and Special Features Disadvantages: None
National Treasure has got to be one of the most enjoyable family adventure movies ever created. It can easily compete with Raiders of the Lost Arc.

The first clue was given to Ben's ancestor Thomas Gates by Charles Carroll the last to sign the decleration of independence ... ...Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) of National Archive, Ben realises that the only way to save the Decleration of Independence is to steal it himself. Advantages: action packed Disadvantages: needs part 2
...I decided to buy it on DVD, when i saw cage and bean staring in it as I am quite a big fan of Nicholas Cage and of sean bean.
with action and mayhem on offer it looked like the one for me.
Cage portrays a perfect roll in my oppinion along side bean they both follow the hunt for a treasure that has been lost for an etternety with cage staying one step ahead of bean most of the way.I once again am left with that overwhelming sense that i realy enjoyed this movie and would recomend this film suitable for all the family from 8+ enjoyable and entertaining all the way
cage and bean fight all the way with twists and turns that keep you watching.
hope you enjoy...

Advantages: Quite gripping Disadvantages: Possibly needed more action
...A brilliant original storyline which is becoming more and more rare these days. Nicholas Cage was great as usual. Generally quite a good cast.
I was a bit worried at the start when I realised it was another film about the Knights Templar and the Masons but I think it worked.
I found NationalTreasure quite gripping and I found that all of the way through the film you want to know whats going to happen next. I suppose the story is almost like an historic conspiracy theory come true.
I think it would be fair to say that this film had something for everyone although I think the film could have benefited with a bit more action that may have pushed the rating up.
Good film, watch it!...

DVD Description
American history gets a cool make-over in this Jerry Bruckheimer-produced comedic action thriller. Nicholas Cage plays Ben Gates, the descendent of an early American patriot who has left him information relating to a vast treasure, hidden during the Revolutionary War by the Freemasons. A clue at the north pole sets things in motion, and Ben must use his formidable cryptography skills to decipher puzzles hidden in the most unlikely places--one appears on the dollar bill, and another is on the back of the U.S. constitution. Ben's unscrupulous former partner (Sean Bean) and his gang of thugs are also after the treasure for selfish, evil purposes. A plot to steal the constitution sets off a 13-colony-wide chase with all the trimmings: cops going after the wrong man, the rescue of a cute female cryptographer (Diane Kruger) who tags along for the ride, and Jon Voight answering the door in the middle of the night as Ben's disapproving father. High-speed editing and a clever script make this an enjoyable history lesson, with Cage's character masquerading as his own versions of Sherlock Holmes, Indiana Jones, and an over-caffeinated Washington D.C. tour guide. He and Kruger demonstrate some fine romantic chemistry, and Justin Bartha gets off some legitimately funny lines as Ben's long-suffering sidekick. Last but not least, Harvey Keitel makes a very cool FBI chief.
