previous vacation (National Lampoon's European Vacation). Disaster-prone dad (Chevy Chase) discovers just how dangerous the Christmas season really is, as the Griswolds' old-fashioned holiday celebration turns out to be more "Bah! Humbug!" than Christmas cheer. Chase is right at home with the outrageous slapstick and often cheerfully tasteless humour and John Hughes's script is stuffed full of classic Christmas movie references. However, Randy Quaid practically steals the film as the unemployed relative with his malicious grin and mooching lifestyle. Not exactly a holiday classic and a bit spotty but this gag-filled comedy is just obnoxious enough for the Scrooge lurking inside everyone. And fear not, a happy ending awaits all. Watch for future star Juliette Lewis as Chase's teenage daughter.--Sean Axmaker

Advantages: Very Funny, A Classic Family Film, Starring Chevy Chase. Disadvantages: Language Not Suitable For All The Family
...You think you've got christmas bad!?.. Just take a second to drop in on the Griswold fun old fashioned family christmas..
Well worth having on DVD, this 1989 film starring Chevy Chase is a great film for getting into that christmas mood. Warm and funny, the dry sarcastic humour blends well with hilarious slapstick sequences to create a great timeless family classic. The film attacks family stereotypes whilst retaining the ethical message that family is all you need to make a good christmas.
The film manages a balance of morals and side splitting comedy perfectly and I think everyone should find time to watch this film around christmas. This is one of those films that you can watch over and over and over again, and still laugh yourself silly every time. Everyone can relate to a character in this film, whether you find you can easily...

Advantages: Laugh a minute, slap stick comedy at its best Disadvantages: I laughed so much it hurt....
...I enjoyed NationalLampoons Vactation, Loaded Weapon had me sniggering in my popcorn, and Animal House made me dread ever going to university... ChristmasVacation takes the biscuit though - i laughed til i cried and then watched it all over again.
Clark Griswold, a family man intent on creating the perfect family Christmas, despite the in-laws descending on the house, and his dear (ahem) cousin Eddie appearing on the front lawn in a clapped out RV with his dog, Snot. Beginning with a family trip to cut down the perfect Christmas tree, too tall for the room and so wide it smashes the windows... and ending in the family's first kidnapping, Clark's cheap-skate boss, this film never stops, with a side-splitting laugh in every scene.
If anyone has a member of their family who gets a bit carried away at Christmas, they will be able...

Advantages: Funny, Good length, great casting Disadvantages: Maybe not so available as it was
...hate it. but this film is so well executed that even these things that on paper sound ridiculous slot in so well to this jolly film. I know a lot of people who basically didnt laugh when i recreated the jokes in conversation, yet were the ones rolling around on the floor most during the screening. The cast is perfect, including sterling performances from Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid (better known as the crop duster pilot in Independence Day), and the laughs come thick and fast. Other films of similar style include NationalLampoon's Vegas Vacation, Airplane, and Monty Python. Its a little dated now, but its on every Christmas on terrestrial in England, and i'm sure any decent film shop will have it....

...NationalLampoonsChristmasVacation
This film has got to be my favourite Christmas film! Its full of laughs and originality. Chevy Chase is back for yet another Vacation film as Clark W Griswold.
This film was released in 1989.
ChristmasVacation was the third LampoonsVacation film to be made. The original NationalLampoonsVacation was followed by NationalLampoons European vacation, NationalLampoonsChristmasvacation and then finally NationalLampoons Vegas vacation was released.
Basically the Griswold family is a typical everyday family that comes across some of the most frustrating and unfortunate events that you may or may not have experienced in your lives. You have Clark who is the Father who tries his hardest to make the vacations as enjoyable as ever for his family (unsuccessfully). Ellen his wife who always faces...

...NationalLampoonsVacation - The Griswalds have planned all year for a great summer vacation. From their suburban Chicago home, across America, to the wonders of the Walley World fun park in California, every step of the way has been carefully plotted. With a few hundred histerical exceptions... a sublimely goofy comedy.
NationalLampoons European Vacation - The Griswalds are on vacation again when they win a deluxe tour of the old world and take on the European continent... the continent looses.
NationalLampoonsChristmasVacation - Clark Griswald, the sincere family man, is determined to stay at home and provide a warm, fun-filled Christmas for his family. But life has a way of throwing wet logs on his fire.
Vegas Vacation - The Griswald family hits the road again for a typically ill-fated vacation, this time to the glitzy mecca...
