I started looking for a new workout DVD after purchasing Davina Mccalls High Energy Five and becoming bored with the aerobics section, so I looked at different reviews and settled on Natalie Cassidy's Then and Now, simply because it had so many raving reviews.
At first, I REALLY didn't like this DVD, the steps seemed too complicated and the instructor doesn't explain everything properly and seemed to expect you to get the moves without explanation. Anyway, I decided to give it another go and was so pleased I did. It seemed a lot easier the second time round, and the more you watch it the clearer the moves become. I think you have to be very co-ordinated and quick on your feet (especially with the high kicking!) to grasp all the moves, the bunny hop in particular as I've done this move so many times yet still can't do it as fluently as they do on the DVD! It would definitely help if you've had some dance training, but don't give up if you haven't - you'll get there eventually and boy does it feel good when you do.
The first section is the warm up section. This is a lot better than Davinas as it actually makes you sweat a bit, the moves are pretty easy and quite fun - just try the shimmy! Natalie's expressions get a bit annoying (you will notice this throughout the DVD), but it sure does make me laugh every time she pouts and says 'This is ma favourite'. (Watch out for it!).
The next section is called 'sweat' although to be honest I don't sweat too much on it, I find myself sweating more whilst doing the boxing bit. Anyway, this section is quite fun and the moves are a lot more varied than Davinas, the box set is fun but the lunges really hurt! The 8 second jog and 8 second sprint is great fun too, really gets that heart pumping!
Next is my favourite, the boxing section. This is fantastic fun and will really get you sweating. This kicks are quite hard to master but ok once you've got them, just remember the three steps!
The last section is for toning and consists of varied push ups and sit ups. It can be quite tough but you really feel it working. Strangely, this section kind of melts into the cool down, believe me when you hear that music change to the cool down music you will feel so relieved! The cool down consists of stretches and is really important so don't skip it - besides it feels so good after the sit ups.
The whole workout lasts about an hour altogether. The music is good, quite funky and will get you into the mood to workout. The only extra on the DVD is a food guide, which is OK if you're trying to diet but I would rather choose what to eat myself.
The DVD is prices at £19.99 but most shops such as Amazon, Tesco etc are selling it for about £12.99. It's a reasonable price for a good DVD.
I started this workout about 3 weeks ago, I do it about 3 times a week and so far have lost a few pounds. I think it would have been more but it's easter and I've been scoffing easter eggs all week!! With sensible eating combined with this DVD however I think you could easily lose a lot of weight over time.
If you are looking for a DVD to buy, I would definitely recommend this one.

Advantages: Choose which sections you do, notice effects after a few workouts, good for unfits. Disadvantages: some moves are hard first time to get. hearing the jokes more than once :P
